I needed one eventually as I get closer to PS3 buy day I'm going to need a switcher with ALOT of HDMI ports at least 6. Three for Cable/Blu Ray/DVD Upscaler then 3 more for PS3/eventual PS4/Android Console oh wait...there's also the Retron 5 so that's 7 inputs I need. Yeah, I have an ungodly number of things going into this TV already......and soon even more. One HDMI Port in this TV isn't helping matter and my 3 way splitter is going into business for it self. So who can point me in the right direction?
My TV has 4 HDMI ports as standard . But yeah, pretty much any HDMI box will do the job but for you you'll need one with a high bandwidth since lag would kill gaming. I don't use one myself but I did see an Elcom model which claimed to ha e no lag and to be ideal for gaming.
yeah it's an older CRT so it only has one port. BLAH. It's a trade off to beable to play a Dreamcast and Saturn on a semi modern TV with out a RGB-HDMI/VGA-HDMI Adapter.
Yeah, I have an older CRT HDTV with one input. I've found the cheaper monoprice switchers to work well, but they don't have all the inputs you need.
yeah I need something powered with a remote just with the sheer amount of HDMI things I'm going to have soon. I'm not even counting my Laptop that I play MAME off of either.
From what I remember, the prices of these things are exponential with the more ports you get. So while 3 is relatively cheap, 6 and up is (IIRC) ungodly expensive. Probably because it needs to be powered. But then again, this doesn't look too bad, for $220.
My suggestion is, buy a HDMI AV-R with 6 HDMI IN ports. Than you have 1 or two outputs, an HDMI filter, a remote and many more options. Something like this : http://www.amazon.de/Yamaha-RX-V767...8&qid=1369399568&sr=1-16&keywords=av-r+6+hdmi
The cheap solution would be an pyramidal structure of 3in1 switchers, three remote but still useable if you can structure the pyramid (1 is retro, 1-1 is nes, 1-2 snes; 2 is modern, 2-1 is ps3, 2-2 xbox 360, etc.).
