My friend woke up to a phonecall today from her mum telling her to get her family to go down to there shop. Some fucking dick had smashed the window and broken in because the shutter wasnt locked correctly the night before they stole hundreds from the till a tv and a charity box what kind of heartless dickwad does that?
When I used to work in sales at a computer shop, I gave up on humanity when chavs would try tearing out Kensington locks on the laptops with me stood right next to them
This is one of my best friends on the net: You may better be nice to him, too. He can make other people like your writing much more than they would without him. Also, a charity box? I've never seen one with more than a couple of cents in it, only at the airport maybe. But leaving cash in the till?? Never heard that, how will they explain that to their insurance agent?
This happened to my girlfriend's shop as well. We don't have a shutter though. It was a brick through a giant window and the money in the till/charity box. We put a security camera on top of the POS monitor and a note saying "LOL YOU'RE FUCKED!!!!111" in the till. It ended up working when the bitch came back to try it again. It was the store's previous owner who was forced to sell for not paying her taxes. She had even torn down our "Under New Management" sign! The look on her face when she read the note and saw the camera was priceless! She broke the camera, but didn't think to look for the recording. Good luck to your friend getting back on her feet. It sucks, but all in all, it's just a minor setback. After about a month or so for us everything was back to normal. TELL HER TO INVEST IN A CAMERA! They're cheap.
My friend/guitarist came home after practice last wednesday (which would have been at maybe 10PM at the latest, it gets dark here 8:30-9ish) to find his door kicked-in and his big TV and 360 missing, and his camera bag (thousands of dollars) emptied-out. Luckily I think he has serial numbers for pretty much everything so the items can't be sold to any pawn shops except maybe the SUPER SUPER shady one or two around here. I had my car broken into and my SLR snatched out of the back floor, in a well-lit parking lot, at night, in the middle of a snow storm while I was inside the bar about 30 feet away. Some thieves are just ridiculously shitty, and it's hard to believe how they get away with it.
I'm far from the paranoid type but I am the "better safe than sorry" variety too. Some basic security cameras don't hurt though I hate being treated like a criminal to be for shopping in a store. Friend of mine had someone side swipe his girlfriends car in front of his house at night. He is looking at getting some cameras as it isn't the first time something like this has happened. Literally lives on Main St in this town across from a High School so I'm not too surprised.
I don't think execution is suitable punishment for theft. Suitable for inhumane crimes certainly though.
So what were you expecting exactly? moral thieves? It's a paradox to expect them to act "valiantly" in the face of theft - their act is wrong by default so it's at least easy to assume that they are of low moral fiber. I'd neither laugh or be pissed off though, it seems like a natural thing to do for a thief.
