Well, got this super nes from a friend and it is not working. I am kinda lost on what to check. already checked for corrosion, broken traces, but no luck. With many cartridges it just give black screen but with Tetris 2 it gives a messed screen. With Pro Action Replay or Game Shark it shows the menus ok but not go to the game. Posted some pictures.

    have you tried other games?
Also clean the cartridges contacts very well.
Another thing would be to wrap a credit card with a thin rag which is soaked in alcohol and push it in and out of the cart slot to give it a good clean

The slot's pins could be damaged. You can buy replacement slots from various places that sell salvaged parts.

Hi, thanks for the responses. Yes have cleaned them both and tested over 20 cartridges also this mother board have the removable cartidge slot and I also have another Snes that also have so I swaped the conectors and both work ok on the other snes as the games also do. The problem must be on this console. Even the power supply is a Nintendo official one and is tested on the other Snes. The audio box SHVC-SOUND have very rusty appearence onthe picture but I removed the covers to check and is perfectly clean inside also the conectors are very clean too. That's why I have no clue what to test as I tested must I could.I was thinking in a SNES test cartridge I read about on another thread over here but also I don't have one.

Well, the games I am using are all originals and I guess if they were not it would give black screen even on the Tetris 2.

try disabling the lockout chip just for test, previous to that check capacitors, may not be leaked or bulged but can be failing anyway, idk, may is plain dead, i used to have a pal one with fryed ppu, worked perfect but all garbled

Well, here I am again to tell that I did make a burn-in test cartridge rev-D and used it to test the snes. It passed all tests just didn't make the super scope as I don't have one. I am completely confused as I can't think of what can be wrong that the test cartridge would not see. Tested over 30 cartridges and none work just black screen.

Test cart is a lo-rom cart (mode 20) so any 512KB or 1MB lorom game can be a donor.

I recommend you go for the burn-in test cart as it has a newer version of the test suite.
