Why did they fuckup the button layout? I mean maybe it is configurable but it's fucked up even worse than the NeoGeo Joypads. If you go by Playstation button layout the mappings should be: Square = A Cross = B Triangle = C Circle = D Why is that so fucking hard to get right? You have to wonder if these people ever played a fucking game in their life. I can somewhat forgive the standard NeoGeo pad having the sort of Gameboy curved layout but come on. SNES, like every game, Y and B for attack and jump. Not fucking Y and X.
Why do I have a feeling the real price of this beast will be awful? Going just by looks, that thing is mad slick. If this thing surpasses $100, it will only get my purchase after a hands-on experience that impresses me.
Even if it's $100, that's way too much since this can only play Neo Geo. For that price you can get a Dingoo and play anything.
As far as I'm concerned, this is nothing more than a re-branded mp4 player. You can get them in almost any kind of knock-off style you want and they are a dime-a-dozen in China. As for the price? There's nothing in it that costs over $200 to make. If the pricing is true, then they are doing the same thing as the Kensington Vii did with it's artificially high prices. It might fool a few people, but once you open up the system and take a look inside (Like many Chinese did for the Vii), you'll see it's nothing more than a cheap clone. Worse, in the Vii's case there is metal strapped to the case to give it a feeling of weight!
If SNK sold a turd in a box, would you buy it? Oh wait, they already did with KoF XII and Metal Slug 4...
I reckon someone's licenced the technology from Gamepark Holdings and this is just a Caanoo in a nicer shell. If it is somehow locked to the bundled games, I give it 48 hours after release until someone has the entire MVS ROM set running on it.
My point exactly. But many people keep going on like it's locked to those 11 included games forevermore. If it is for some reason, I'm sure it won't take long to get around it. I'm also expecting SNES, Megadrive and CPS2 emulators too, basically everything that works on the Caanoo.
By that logic, this is Nintendo branded. Do you want one as well? $69.99 CND and it's yours (CIB - Black unit w/o decals applied).
Nintendo Branded Dingoo clone with the PSP's menu layout. I'm pretty sure this Neo Geo is just a clone of the dingoo. Maybe better build quality. My dingoo had a sketchy Dpad and the L button stopped working :/
The PSP 2000 series is pretty good. But these days you could probably make something better. If someone wouldn't cheap out in any areas and put some good hardware in a portable it could be awesome. You could easily make something that could emulate everything from Atari 2600 to N64 and Playstation, maybe things beyond. The problem lately with all portables to me is they just have to mess up something. The controls usually.
I am surprised to see that most people appear down on this machine. I am very excited and can't wait til its released. Hopefully the price point will be competitive like most Blaze products. The high price mentioned early seemsto have generated a bit of negativity so hopefully once its out people will be enthused a bit more! I guess it may be considerably higher than the price of the Megadrive/genesis handhelds as SNK Playmore would probably charge more for the licence than Sega do. SNK = Expensive in all my past dealings (apart from the NGPC which was very well priced even at launch) Also its design appears to be more 'solid' and 'clean' again this may have been down to an SNK stipulation that it doesn't appear 'cheap' so not to diminish the brand in eyes of consumers. I had a PSP rocking the emulators but the PSP is kind of large and messing around with hacks and uploading files can be annoying so for me Windjammers on the move straight from an SD card is a winner! (if all goes to plan) Anyway I am pretty excited about the Neo Geo X.
find a PSP-go. They're usually $100 or less, have 16GB storage, fully hacked, can do video out, supports PS3 controller (only model to do so) ....
Hmm interesting. Wasn't aware the PSPGO was hacked to this level yet. Gonna have to look into this for sure. As far as this new Neo China handheld thing, ehhh... these always give me the creeps. There are too many things that can go wrong from build quality to performance.
