So quick background: 1. I am a retro game collector 2. My girlfriend is a video game gamer 3. My girlfriend works at gamestop 4. I don't play video games, I collect. With the above in mind, I have some general topics of what my girlfriend would fancy but I don't know if such stuff exists in a gift form. Her favorite video games (ATM) are: 1. The Last of Us 2. Beyond Two Souls 3. Bioshock (any of them) I was thinking what would be perfect is if I could find like "the making of" or the "history of" book for those games. At this time it doesn't look like anything like that exists. An example of this would be that Halo Encyclopedia. She also loves the company Naughty Dog, which might be useful to know. Really what I'm envisioning is something really fancy that is like a collectors edition that she couldn't get at her store (gamestop), but isn't the video game. Something that extends outside a video game but still relates to it. But not a doll, or a costume. Any ideas? Thanks a billion!

Well, while I was writing this, I ran into a few ideas. Apparently there's a few "the art of" books out there: http://www.amazon.com/The-Art-Last-Us/dp/161655164X/ref=pd_sim_b_1 http://www.amazon.com/The-BioShock-...tmm_hrd_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1386217044&sr=1-1 These might not be a bad idea, but I'm open to seeing what everyone comes up with!
TLoU has an art book and comic book collection. You might look into that if she doesn't already have it.
There are probably some Crash Bandicoot art books out there, which might be good, since you said she likes Naughty Dog. I don't know of any specifically, though.
I'm actually going with the The Last of Us comic book series since there's only 4 issues, and they are pretty cheap but collectively mount to a good gift! I'm still open to ideas, her birthday is always in the future. She didn't play the crash series unfortunately, though. Thanks both of you for suggestions!
I was about to suggest that--plush toys. If there isn't a plush for a game of choice, go to etsy or deviantart and do a search. There are quite a few handy craftsmen that make decent objet d'art. You may have to pay more than the normal mass-produced plush but that is what makes it special, right?
Bioshock is a great series to get gifts out of. If she's into reading, grab a copy of the Bioshock Book- it does a fantastic job of explaing the city itself and goes into depth on some of the alluded to features of the city. Very good read, especially if you're (she's) a big fan of Bioshock. Then have a nice dinner with the soundtrack of Bioshock playing in the background (the actual copyrighted songs, not the orchestral tracks).
