So I have a few white label promo's for the Dreamcast that aren't in general circulation and I thought of adding them to the current databases we have established.

Now i can make a selfbooting image of GDI's as I have been doing it for 900mb media for a while now but I have always used either TOSEC,Redump, converted CHD's or the rare GDI found floating around the net but I have never dumped any of my own disc and never felt the need to do it till now.

So here is my problem the current DC I am working with has had the modem gutted and a switch in it's place so I can change the BIOS to what ever one I need at the current time without having to re-solder each time. So I don't have a BBA and nor do I desire one. I do have the good ole' fashioned coders cable and it works great I use it with Dream Explorer to this day.

Anyhow I do have one of the DC SD adapters and the latest version of Dreamshell BETA v4 and it can dump I disc from what I have been reading and so forth but it is accurate? I mean enough so to submit them? I know I should do each disc a few times to ensure I get the same MD5 each time but at 6 hours a pop I was curious if anyone else had any insight at this feature and if it is pretty reliable. I mean the Wii's dumping ISO's over wifi was proven to be as accurate as using a LG Drive with the firmware as they both had matching MD5 files.

What do you all suggest I do to get these dumped? The "Swap" trick with the PC and trap disc will not work as I only have a laptop. Anyone tried this feature and found it reliable? I hope more so than the ability to play commercial games I have tried but man I am super happy with hiomebrew as that was the reason I bought it for BOR mods and EMU's. I am having APE here overclock my other for TG16 CD emulation and SNES emulation at full speed!!

I personally dumped some games using the PC Lite-On LTD-165h DVD drive swap trick and verified Dumpcast entry this way with no problem. I also verified games using a Dreamcast's serial to PC parallel port hack (designed by jj1odm just as the sd cable) with no problem!

For the Sd-Cable, it should be as reliable as the coder's cable, BBA or Parallel port ripper. It can't hurt to dump twice to verify, but as long as your discs are in good shape it should not be a problem. Note that some Jap DC get bad checksum with any method of dumping files as the somehow skip the last few second of silence after each audio track.

That's about all I can say to help you out!

Thanks to APE my first BETA is dumped and uploaded. I used the app DC SD rip and got excellent results. Takes about 45 minutes at most to dump the disc and every dump is consistent. So now I will share my rip thanks to FamilyGuy thanks to his nice selfboot tools as I my XP VM went down and his set of tools works quite well in Win7 while I have yet to setup CDRecord properly. Since then I am back to my XP VM but thanks to both of you guys there is a new release for the DC world.

Thank you, I'm glad I've been of help to you through my tools.

I plan on updating the selfboot pack in the future to be 100% 64-bit friendly and to add some automated protection cracking besides the LBA ones. Maybe to completely make it in c++ rather than in batch too as I've improved a lot in coding. We'll see how much free time I got!

    Cheers,

    FG

    [EDIT]

For cdrecord under win7, try this winaspi32.dll: http://www.mediafire.com/?ndn2o0wjz1j
It should be in the same folder as cdrecord.exe for me it works well.

That was my problem was aspi drivers, I have always used forceASPI but I am on 64-bit Win7 so I don't think it works as I believe I tried it but I kept getting compatibility errors.

My auto.binhack.exe doesn't works under 64bits Win7. You might want to edit my batch file to use my binhack32.exe instead.

I had a person hack the ip.bin as I noticed that and I grabbed that tool a while back but never used it as I had problems setting up cdrecord. Thanks for the heads up I will edit the bat to direct it to use that app. Thanks for the tools and the pack nice to see my favortie console still getting needed tools as you have.

    EDIT

Man you are good makes light work of doing DC games now as there are so many bad rips out there I like to do my own, besides it is fun. Anyhow mind helping me removing dummy data from another BETA for release to the world? I got real lazy and didn't even edit the bat file in notepad I just renamed the app and works great and nice and easy. One question though any way to trim the data track or use AUDIO.RAW by simply editing the bat fie? Anyhow the game is Ready to Rumble 3 white label, dunno I can't seem to get it right. I managed to make a 99 minute rip of the game by demuxing the video's and using MainConcept's MPEG encoder managed to make it fit with that worthless space being occupied and not really needed as the video's honestly weren't to great before I got a hold of them and most don't have 870mb CDR's lying around and aren't thrilled about locating and buying them either.

    RE-EDIT
Oh any chance of CDDA support? I know WinCE with CDDA would be out of the question as there is no "fix" for most games and definitely not a easy universal one that could be implemented into an applications.

Well, you can't really just swap auto.binhack for binhack32 ...
The simplest thing (as I don't really have the time to make auto.binhack32 right now sorry) would be to skip the whole auto.binhack part in the batch file (erase the line starting with "auto.binhack") and hack the file manually using binhack32. For that simply copy the bootbin somewhere, along with binhack32 and ip.bin and execute binhack32; then enter the name of the bootbin, "ip.hak" and "45000".

Make the resulting ip.hak read-only and put it in the root folder of the pack. You can deleted the hacked bootbin as it's the same as the unhacked one.

I shouldn't add support for CDDA, as there's no real way to make CDDA automated without burning a disc directly in an automated way, it falls back to the old echelon's method. WinCE are weird as hell too.

If you want to donwsample video files I suggest the excellent SFD toolpack by OVERRiDE, there's great tools to make VBR videos that will both look good and take not much space.

    Good luck!

I got the video downsampling down pat as I have done a bunch of TOSEC conversion's what I need help on is editing a file that they padded out to stop it from fitting onto a 80minute CDR. Never was worth my weight using a hex.
