I'm sure we've all had that experience of something you can picture in your mind's eye, clear as day, but you just can't find it anywhere. Years and years ago, I'm not entirely sure where (it might have been on Gaming-Age or of one of Magweasel's old blogs), I found a video that I think had originally been on AOL's sort of main game portal in 1995-ish, so it was pretty low-quality. It was a black-and-white video, and it was basically just footage of a bunch of mid '90s rappers sitting on a couch playing video games (Including SNES, Genesis, 3DO and the Jaguar) with music playing over it. These weren't small-time guys, either. Oh no. I am 100% sure that Tupac and Biggie were in this video. No lie, just chillin' out and playing games. It was so bizarre and I'm DESPERATE to find it again, just to prove to myself that I'm not insane. Has anyone else ever seen this?

couldn't find exactly what you was looking for...(searches may not be the best type?)
1, old archive footage not shared or lost to the ravages of time and the voids of space? (future permits a share)
2, copyright related infringements given who they are, maybe some EULA/TOS would be breached in the share? maybe why it's not present?
    ...
strangely, finding a public stream of music or videos (full length HQ tunes) is difficult, but i did find this brief clip....
    (Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis)

    ^^ interesting!
didn't know about it til now!
    ....
oh, and for what it's worth, chances are, you're bang on the money, right that a B&W clip exists!
being right doesn't make us more 'sane'...than whenever last we thought we lost our shit! :friendly_wink:
    ...
    [edit]
    typo...
    ...
    [edit again]
i did search for 'jaguar' entries for both 'biggie and tupac' and that's all i could find relative!

Yeah, the whole thing reminded me of that Biggie song, too! It had to have been almost 10 years ago when I first saw this (I think I was still in high school), so even if I could figure out where I found it originally the video link would be long gone by now. Unless I can find the post and ask him if he still happens to have the video, I doubt if I'll ever see it again. Oh well, c'est la vie!

If nothing else, all this searching helped me remember that Magweasel's old site was Video-Fenky. It seems pretty well preserved on Archive.org, but the search doesn't work anymore so if I want to find the original post I'm gonna have to go through all of it by hand. His stuff was always pretty interesting to read, so it's not like it's THAT much of a chore, though!

If it helps, the above is a song called "Juicy" By Notorious BIG.

That part of the song is at 2:40.

It'd be crazy if someone found the video with both 2pac and Biggie in a video game commercial. I don't recall every seeing it, but that would be quite the bold marketing scheme.

stevo9389, that picture is awesome, but unfortunately not what I'm looking for. They did play Genesis in the video, but they played a couple of others, including the aforementioned Jaguar, which I think is the big reason why it stayed with me. Seeing the biggest rapper of his time, cut down in his prime, playing such a low-rent console just really struck me as bizarre for some reason, even if it was for publicity. Also, even though I saw it in like 2004 you could tell the video was way older than that. It was one of those really early Quicktime videos that's like the size of a postage stamp and grainy beyond belief. I probably wouldn't have even known it was Tupac if the video didn't have text on the screen saying who everyone was.

Looks like a shop to me. Again, this was an internet video from the mid-90s, so it would have been REALLY small and grainy. If only I could remember where I found it. I basically looked at every post on the old Video-Fenky site I mentioned earlier and came up dry, so that makes it a lot harder to narrow down. I didn't get it from the original source, it was a repost, so I'm not even really 100% on where it came from or why it was made, other than I seems to remember some mention that it was from AOL.

It definitely wasn't an ad, though. I'd say it was more like some kind of supplement to a feature. It was really raw and unproduced, like Tupac and Biggie just happened to be in the building that day so they brought them over to the game office to shoot a quick video for the site. This was strictly pre-next gen hardware (no PS or Saturn), so this video was probably ten years old even when I first saw it. I really wish I could give you more to go on, but I honestly don't know the first place to start looking.

The Jaguar was released in very late 1993. Saturn and PlayStation were released only a year later, at the end of 1994. They are ALL fifth generation consoles.

I find it bizarre that you call the Jaguar low-rent, then mention that it was a video from the mid-Nineties. Obviously you were too young to remember the Jaguar back then - it was an expensive console at around $250, when the Genesis and SNES were launched at around the $200 mark a few years previously... so would have been discounted by then. Why wouldn't they be playing on the latest console?

I wasn't talking about the price when I said it was "low-rent". I didn't know any Jag fans were reading.

I wasn't talking about the price, either. It was a great console when it was released - you shouldn't be so disparaging. That's like a Sony fanboy saying, "eww, why is Snoop playing on an Xbox One? How could he lower himself to that?"

I would also be quite interested in seeing this, both as a big VG & Tupac fan. Although I'm a little skeptical on if it can be found. It would be nice to assume something like that was archived, but I just don't know. I'll do some searching myself.

Try remembering the website and use this site for going "back into the time" and you may find the video.

It would better if you were at least a teenager or older at the time. People were less... umm, pathetically petty in those days, more mature if you will. The jag would have been the hot new thing at the time. And if you have all the disposable income you could want just go buy one right? Somthin to do ya know.....seeing as how the internet had not been invented, endless trolling, hardcore porn, and youtube wasnt around to distract us all yet. Things are looking up now though for sure.

You are taking your view of things and applying it to everything. Yes, the jag sucked, even back then. Still, it was the most powerful system out at the time. Im sure they sold a few based on that alone.

Jesus Christ, that's not the point. What I think of the Jaguar has nothing to do with the subject at hand. The only reason I even brought it up is because I found it odd, and that's why it's stayed in my mind all these years later. You can make of that what you will (and people have, LOUDLY). I figured a post on a gaming forum wasn't going to have the same sort of factual scrutiny leveled against it as a master's thesis. You say the internet hadn't been invented, yet there's a video (or at least, there was at one time) featuring the Jaguar (made for the internet, mind) which was produced when it was still a viable platform. Then again, I'm just some immature, petty millennial, so what do I know, anyway? My brain is probably so scrambled from spending all day looking at hardcore porn on the You Tubes, I can hardly be expected to remember what I had for breakfast, much less something I saw 10 years ago!

Jaguar was a pretty cool console when it was released, mostly because of Alien Vs Predator and Tempest 2000. It was very tempting but at the same time the 3DO was out with CD Rom capability as was the Philips CD I system. Back during that time everything was about CD Rom gaming with Wing Commander 3 being the big game to play. This was right after the Sega CD but people still were going crazy for FMV.

Fun fact: On the back of the Jaguar box there is a picture for a Tiny Toons game. It was the only interesting looking one on the box and it never ended up getting released.

As for Tupac and Biggie, playing a Jaguar at the time would mean you were a balla who had the latest system. Think of it like having a Bentley in a video ;)
