Hello, I recently acquired two brand new system only Gizmondo's which were described as working unused overstock. And they do look new cosmetically, as if they have never been used before just as the seller stated. I assembled a battery following an online guide posted by 'FR4NK5T3R' some years ago and I also have a power supply of the proper rating (6V DC, 600mA, positive inner polarity). The devices both power on, however they will not load past the spinning Gizmondo logo. I have tried soft resets and hard resets to no avail. I have also delved into the internet archive and found useful software including Service packs A and B as well as tutorials on how to fix this issue. I can successfully flash these service packs from my PC via USB using 'GizmondoControlCenter', however the Gizmondo's still get stuck while loading. I am able to "sideload" games and programs from my PC onto the Gizmondo's while the logo is constantly spinning, and while pressing buttons I can play the games with a sort of strobe effect, where it flashes between the game and the spinning logo rather quickly. In some games, it flashes between the game and logo on its own, while in other games as well as programs (like emulators), they only show the spinning Gizmondo logo unless I am pressing a button. This has not worked to view the Gizmondo OS, however. Does anybody have any ideas? Perhaps a flash chip hasn't survived over the past decade? Or could it be a motherboard power issue? Here is a link to download all of the software and files I have been using if anyone would like to take a look: mega:///#!EBUWQJBb!_D9p-jZHSAjzxsuxNv5L4hydk6-CqA4xvsTGwKGhSeY Includes the USB driver, the GizmondoControlCenter program for windows (to flash it via USB), the service packs, and a few tutorials. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!
You probably tried it already, but just in case: For me, removing the MMC card I had in there did the trick.
So far I have tried booting with a 2GB, 1GB and even an old 32 MB sd. I tried booting without a card in place, but this also hasn't worked. Additionally, I've tried it with and without different SIM cards in place but this doesn't seem to make a difference either. When booting, I let it sit for a good 10-15 minutes each time. The lengthiest duration I left it on has been upwards of an hour, but it just stays on the same screen with the spinning logo. I've read these handhelds can take a while to boot, but I would think it shouldn't be any longer than a few minutes at most, right?
Normal boot should be less than a minute. Initialization after a factory reset can be a bit longer, but still below, say, 5 minutes.
