I'm waiting untill Sony release a HDTV with a Cell processor to beef up the power of my ps3 That gives me a year or 2 to save up enough money to buy 1 then too
It says the resolution is 1280x720, so that sounds like real 720p to me. I know what you mean though - you can buy plasma TVs that cost like 3 grand and their native resolution is still a shitty 480 lines! Not even good enough for PAL...
i think the only 1080 out there are from loewe and samsung but that info is already some months old saw matrix in 1080p last week on my 23" in 1920 and it looked superb i really hate my huge tv that only can do pal
I would hold off for now, being the 1080p standard is coming into the consumer market now. LCDs are nice but you have to watch for dead pixels, and make sure that the company has a good dead/stuck pixel return policy. I recently picked up the Sony 34" KV-34HS420, and I have to say this tv is amazing. I wanted a DLP but it is just not in my current budget. If you are looking for the best bang for the buck, you should look into teh 30"-34" WS HD CRTs. There may be some high-end tubes that can support 1080p, but it is relatively new standard in the consumer market. Samsung will have their first 1080p HD/DLP TV out in Q4. I was able to demo the Samsung 30" DLP with the 2.5 DLP chip, and it was amazing. The only issue I have with projection is the viewing angles suck. Unless you are right in front of the screen, you get a glare on most of the picture.
MInd you i dont really care much. I wanted to get a DLP toshiba that was on ebay couple weeks ago. Went for £520. Annoyed i dint have any way to get home even though it was very close to me. Still undecided what to buy! Looking to not spend over £800-1000...
1080p's never going to be used for broadcasting though - the bandwidth it would require will be insane! Not like 720p and 1080i are bad enough. I don't know what the hell Sky are going to do when they go HD - there's already too many channels on the Astra 2 system as it is. No matter how good the reception is, I've always noticed blockyness, even on channels like BBC1 and 2. And then there's the cheaper channels - I've seen better pirate DVDs! Block-o-rama.
they already did send in 1080 not sure if i or p but nevertheless if i would buy a hd tv i would go for 1080
Alsi is doing a great deal on a 32" HDTV for £750 tomorrow. I have no money - so everyone, if you are in the UK go get one. Aldi's stuff is always very very high quality. Makes me sad I have no money http://uk.aldi.com/special_buys/product_211.html
