Help Hacking Pre-Retail PAL DEV BIOS for Dreamcast use

Just want to see if this and a voerclock of 240mhz helps the optimized build out so maybe we can get further. I was just going to take WinHEX and look at the one link83 did but not sure if it is the same being pre-retail and all. I don't want to flash something I might not be able to recover from.

 

Can you test in an emu?

 

Emulators aren't a model of accuracy.

 

If your DC has the piggyback mod (i.e. a switch to swap between bioses) - you can always recover.

You cant flash the original bios in the DC - its read only.

You need the DC modified to change the bios - either its been replaced (and you have 1 chip) or its piggybacked and you have 2 with a switch (so you can always swap to original and reflash)

 

I have dual bios, my stock was switched to pal region so i can have the blue swirl and the other i have a region free katana dev bios. The pre-retail one i have is of pal region only so i was hopping some knew could help me or point me in the right direction so i can do it myself.. The only time i do switching is when i install the dreamshell bios.

 

The bios does not change the region - thats in the flash.

Your stock bios isnt flashable, so you can always switch back to that. You cant break your DC by flashing a bad bios.
