Lucked out and got these kits for really cheap. The guy that sold them to me called them Beta kits. From his description I originally thought they would be Test Kits but now that I have them in my hands I think they might be actual Devkits. They are both running a very old dash. v6xxx (lol can't remember will update this post when I hook them up again. On the side of one of them it says JEVC3-12. and "Not for Sale Beta Only" Also the snaps seem to be broken on the sidecars and one of them I'm having a hard time seating. Any help would be appreciated.
Jaspers, probably dev kits. Why not boot them up and see, if you dont have a 213w PSU take off the sidecars
Very odd combination you've got there. At first I thought there was a case swap as the stickers on the back are simply Xbox 360 Console. But I do see the stickers on the side that have the production information on them. Now I thought JEVC was a Stress Test batch of units, but the ones I've seen typically say "Prototype" instead of Xbox 360 Console. It's possible these are Demo Kits with Sidecars fitted on them, but I didn't think demo kits supported sidecars and kernel debugging. It's possible these are tail end stress test units that have moved out of the proto stage and are pretty much labeled as final. Either way, I've never seen grey sidecars on a white unit unless they've been put on at a later date - so those sidecars weren't on there originally. TL;DR: Final Jasper Stress Test units (Functions as a full Development Kit) with the Sidecars added on later in their life by someone. -Doom PS: Production date(s)?
Thanks for the input. The production dates on both are 2008-06-24. I did rig up a computer power supply to boot them both up and they both said XDK down in the corner. The first thing that starts is a launcher where I can launch a really old dashboard. Would opening them up give me a better idea?
If I recall, the jasper I have is a JEVC from 6/21, so I'd say it's safe to call them Stress Test units. Is there any orange lights near the top of the motherboard (SMC) and back by the fans? If so, it's definitely a Stress Test. You can open them up if you want, I assume they've already been opened at this point due to the fact that they have seated sidecars. Some things to look for I guess is if there's a factory cut rectangle in the metal casing for the sidecar wires, if the information from the outside label(s) matches what the motherboard says, if there are headers onboard, etc. -Doom
i agree with doom just some stress tests with some sidecars added later although i thought past zephyr they added prototype stickers to the back, but i can see remains of house labels on the side of 1? take it apart and see if someones grafted the sidecar on
Thanks for all the help. Good to know what I have now. Am I right to say that these have all the same capabilities as a devkit with these side cars? Also I've received a few inquiries of people wanting to buy one of these kits. (I can't imagine needing to keep both of them) but am not even sure how to price these. I've seen lot's of for sale posts in the past but am not sure how people arrive at the prices they do. Not sure if it's appropriate to do a price check so if I'm not supposed to I apologize.
Split kits from sidecar (easy since you said the tabs are already broken lol) or sell as a single unit?
Flipped case? Assuminng the sidecar clips aren't totaled, everything is functioning as it should, and they're unbanned from PNET (I wouldn't be suprised). I'd peg them atleast around 600-800 (each) if you include an XDK PSU. The original labels help add a bit of value to them too, even with the deflation of kit prices, a Jasper + Sidecar usually go pretty quick (as you can see from the PMs). -Doom
