Hello, i need help from my fellow collectors: I am not able to find enough information on the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles GameCube, that was given away as a contest model in Japan and is limited to 150 pieces. Does anyone have more info on this unit? Release date, which kind of competition, which magazine ... I would also need a picture of the console. I've just pics of the box and it is not really easy to find a not sealed unit. I know someone on this board has this LE console but unfortunately i don't know who it is. Kind regards, Michael
"Waits for Importaku's knowledge!" If you still need piccies by the weekend I can find mine for you, no probs. But quite a few people here have it I think so piccies will be sooner.
Owners known to me are wheelaa (obviously), Importaku and Fedeweb. here a picture of the actual console along with a matching FF Tactics Advance LE:
Is this picture your property? Can i use it for print for a collector's article in our upcoming issue of the GameFront magazine? It's an independent-magazine so i've no money to offer but i will send you an issue for free. Does someone have more infos on this unit?
The games magazine that did the competition was dengeki, im not sure what the criteria was for winning one.
Sadly its not mine (could never afford). I saved the picture from fedewebs homepage. You can find it (and some more) here: http://www.federico.biz/foto_album.asp (bottom third) But you can send me a free issue anyway if you want ^^"
It's a shame that you're from Germany and not reading our GameFront magazine. Send me your adress via PM and i will send you our most recent issue.
Not sure if this helps but theres one on ebay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/Sell-Game-Cube-FINAL-FANTASY-Crystal-Chronicles_W0QQitemZ160207078513QQihZ006QQcategoryZ62054QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It'll look quite funky next to a Wii and a 360. And possibly anything else. Also, it won't lose attraction if it gets dusty.
you know what's weird about the ebay auction? it could well be legit and all, but a few years back I bid and payed for one of these units that was on ebay. the seller was french. I was scammed. left a bitter taste in my mouth with regards to this system (and paypal's/ebay's unwillingnes or inability to put things right -sometimes I feel they are as bad as the scam artists themselves).

It seems that there were more. I did a search and found some articles on the topic (all in Japanese). http://dol.dengeki.com/data/news/2003/6/23/fab65d5274f0f0f8a4f8a46f6241d8c8.html Announcement: Crystal White Gamecube will be given away in a prizedraw* at "Dengeki Online" (to be posted on July 2) and in the September issues of "Dengeki GAMECUBE" (on sale: July 19) and "DengekiGAMES" (July 30). Note: *the article itself does not give any details on how one would get one of the cubes. I assume it was a simple draw according to common practice. http://www.inside-games.jp/news/108/10875.html Adds 3 of Shueisha's "Jump" magazines to the pool. http://www.inside-games.jp/news/118/11897.html 20 more to be given away from Square Enix in a draw. To enter the draw one would have to send in two coupons, each found in one of the official guidebooks "First Edition" and "Complete Edition". Submission ends on December 1st. http://www.purple.dti.ne.jp/ffgoods/goods/fft.html Claims that cubes have been sent by Nintendo to a number of magazines including Famitsu, Dengeki and "Figyua Oo" (Figure King) to be given away as prizes. (All dates refer to 2003).
Wow - that's great information. Thank you VERY much. This is going to be a great article. I didn't thought that the console would be sold for such a high price. My favorite Japan dealer had one left for me for 470.- Euro new+sealed but the guy was simply to lazy to send me payment details. I was lucky enough to had my DC collection finished at that time.
