I got a xbox 360 and I picked up a couple xbox arcade demos, some which were laughably short (doom, doom 2. it's like id forgot they along with 3d realms/apogee helped popularize shareware) but the point of all this is that I've settled on three games I'd like (for now): Duke Nukem 3D, Perfect Dark and Banjo Kazooie. I can afford only two of them, so I'm gonna put up a poll here. the two games with the most votes will be those I'll get. These are games I used to own, and I consider them some of my favourite games, so I know their worth. it's just that I can't choose all three, so there.
Duke 3D hasn't aged well anyway, definitely not well enough so that a shovelware release would be worth $10.
1) My computer sports a shiny 3ghz pentium 4 cpu. even with hyper threading, that's too slow even for doom. 2) Even if it could handle dn3d on dosbox, I don't like dosbox. I never did. despite only being 23 years old, I'm still from the old ms-dos days, and dosbox just doesn't have this flexibility (you might think I'm crazy, but I do like running programs that aren't games in ms-dos) 3) DosBox is nothing but a mere emulator. keep that in mind. 4) Duke 3D might look and play like crap to you, but to me the levels are still as awesome and fun as ever. 5) shitty port? what planet are you from? this looks and feels (and plays) like the original pc version, and it's even got the midi soundtrack. And being one of the few who still only swear by 4:3 televisions, I don't have to endure that stupid widescreen border.
Yeah, but it doesn't have anything to make it worth buying on XBLA, no extras except for a worthless and stupid rewind mode, and it's also overpriced. Just like the recent Simpsons release, a great example of a company pooping out an old game on XBLA to make a quick buck!
Too slow for doom? As in the game from 1993? Am I missing soemthing because a pc with a 3ghz p4 HT cpu would run it fine :/
I was going to ask the same question. I was playing DOOM and DOOM 2 on a 486. Do you mean DOOM 3? =hugh
Why is the poll closed? On a related note, does anyone know why there's a demo for Outrun Online Arcade on XBLA, but no option to buy it? Is there any (legal) way to get this game on a PS3 or 360? I didn't think it was important enough to make a new thread.
