i was talking to my teacher(the same one i borrowed the super nintendo from) and he said since one of the two SNES consoles had a damaged and yellowed shell,he said he would look for a new one now my question is,can you make a new shell/case for a PAL Super NES? thank you in advance
sounds like a super interesting project. Does it need to be identical to the original, or can you be very creative?
the case needs to be replaced,it (the upper area (the cart slot cover is there) broke in like 3 pieces so i want to refurbish it for him,as a thank you
Somewhere someone posted how you can turn a yellowed case back to the way it used to be. RetroBright or something. It's on this forum somewhere.
i'll remember that one by the way,the screwholders(the places the screws go into to hold the thing together)are also broken off,so i think it has to be a whole case-mod
I forget exactly what's different, but there definitely is something different on the bottom half of the case in newer SNES models. (I think something affecting the height of the cartridge slot or some such) You can do a top-half case swap with any model though, which is why I have a two-toner now
Well I put a ntsc snes motherboard into a pal snes case and it fits pretty good. And if the screw are placed differently then a dremel will fix that, thats what I did.
You could draw it in a CAd system or use a 3D scanner and scan it, then using a 3D printer print it. I've actually been tinkering with reproducing cart shells like this.
Oh ok Talked to him,he said that i can have the console i mentioned as agift if he get another one so,what to do then?
i know it can,one problem, the top broke off, pieces of the front are missing, what do you expect from a snes faling 2 meters of solid ground
hmm...not a bad idea at all a question about the motherboard,is it secured to the lower case(no pun intended) with the screws or held be different?
