I have...TOO MANY games. But I'd like to tackle an RPG and I have a ton but I've narrowed the list down to these Bahumet Lagoon (translated) Xenogears Suikoden I and II Parasite Eve Lunar 1 and 2 (sega CD) which on top those I have Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger to finish too.... Over on the other forum it's Parasite Eve-4 Suikoden- 6 anywho help me out...I'm quite torn. Of all the games to choose from Xenogears is the only one I'm really REALLY famular with. I'd be going into the others fresh.
i dont know any of those rpgs if you have earthbound play it lol,or terranigma if you live in japan or PAL
You should really finish FF6 and Chrono Trigger first. If you start playing other ones and get back to them you forget half the story and your strategies :110: Where are you currently in FFVI? I'm playing as well 6/8 dragons done.
ffvi, chrono, suikoden, then Lunar 1 and 2. 2 especially is fucking awesome. The PSX version especially.
I'd say the Lunar games. Though be sure to play them on the Sega CD as they were butchered when they were remade for the PS1/Saturn. See here: http://www.gamesarefun.com/gamesdb/review.php?reviewid=14
i loved Suikoden II. I think I liked it better than the original. Lunar 2 is really, REALLY cool too, and while you didn't need to play the original to understand it, it really would improve your enjoyment of it. I still like the PSX version better, more so because it's a bit more balanced and the ending is improved. Then again, the Sega CD version is still a jewel. Just beware of Borgan.
My favorite RPG on the PS1 was either Lunar 1 or Arc the Lad 2. Arc the Lad 2 was just so damn epic. Although it did drag on a bit, the area with the White House was one of the most suspenseful moments in RPGs for me.
It was made pathetically easy on the PS1/Saturn. I found that be a bit of a bore. But its better than what they did with Lunar Silver Star Story, where the gameplay AND the plot got mutilated.
Rhapsody is fucking awesome. I love it to death. I don't recall if you had to switch the voices to Japanese yourself or if I'm confused with something else, but steer clear of the English voice track if you love your ears and sanity. I'm not sure whether you'll like it or not, but I love it. Persona 2 is the one where you're a journalist, and she investigates a case where teenagers say you call your own cellphone to summon an assassin from hell? If so, I recall having lots of fun with it but I had it when I was just starting college so I faintly recall some parts of it only.
