Help! My collection is dusty!

  1. I thought this was a little too offtopic to be in the main thread....

Anyways, I have a problem with dust. I dust the consoles I frequently use on almost a daily basis, and the ones not in use I dust about once a month. I buy cans of compressed air in bulk (yes, I use them for other things besides pyrotechnics) to keep my room clean, but to no avail, it's still a dust trap. After seeing Silverbolt and Importaku's immaculately clean collections, I want to know if you guys have any secret methods or tips for keeping things clean?

This may sound sadistically sick, but my wife vacuums the house every other day. It's a Japanese thing I think, as my mother-in-law said you have to vacuum the house that much. That, for starters, will help.

Don't BLOW it away - SUCK IT Away! I use a vacuum to clean out my PC about once a month, which gets filled with dust and dog/cat hair because its on the floor. I need to vacuum up my desk area too. Vacuums are also good

    Vacuum weekly.

Those swiffer (sp?) dust collecting cloths are one of the greatest inventions on earth.

Thnx for the compliment GSL :smt040 i use a swiffer cloth to get rid of dust, just dust em off every other day and they keep nice and clean same for all my games.

And games that don't have a box i keep in those sealable plastic bags to keep the contacts clean from dust etc..

I dont have a solution for your problems sadly, but I did recently notice that some of my consoles tend to attract dust faster than others... or instance, my DC, PS2 and Saturn get dusty rather quick, in contrary to my PS1, NES and SNES... perhaps its some issue with static electricity? :smt017

thats maybe because the PS2 / SAT is black and PS1 / NES / SNES is grey ? I mean, you will notice Dust much faster on a black console while you cannot see the dust on NES so easily :)

well I thought there might be some relation but that wouldnt explain why my DC seems to be collecting a lot more dust than my PSone... while I play my DC a lot more, of course :smt043
