Greetings, fellow members. I know this is kind of a long shot, but I'd really be happy if there were a way to recover files from a lost NTFS partition via some sort of miraculous software for Linux. I know such software exists for XP. No idea whether I can get a similar deal for this one. It would really make my life not be a living hell. All help appreciated and thanked beforehand, Xerdo.
I haven't used this, but try http://trinityhome.org/Home/index.php?wpid=1&front_id=12 Works straight off the CD and will boot without accessing your hard drive. It comes with a load of rescue tools to mess around with NTFS partitions.
Looks VERY Promising. Once I try it, I'll tell you if it did work. I appreciate it a lot. I hope there's the possibility of one day buying you a drink for your help.
Cheers! From reading the blurb on the site, it would appear you need a file from the XP SP2 distribution, not sure if you spotted that, but make sure you have it when you burn the disc!
Very nice guide there Pikkon! I have used Knoppix in the past and it is a very nice OS, especially since it all runs from CD.
