I may send my Amstrad Mega PC to the US. I have no idea how much it would cost to send and need to know. I dont know how much the damn thing weighs (I have no scales) and there is no post office near my house (I have no car).

Anyone got an idea (roughly) how much this would cost to send and also what would the best way to do it be. Post Office or courier?

    Any help much appreciated!

Are you sending the monitor as well?

I sent a base unit (no monitor) to the US a few years ago and think it ended up being about £35 (slow postage).

    Yeah, the whole lot!

  5. Roughly £60 to send the P.C desktop unit and about the same for the monitor.

...So you're looking at around £120 to send via Airmail for the whole package, would be my guess.

I was sent a crystal Xbox by parcelforce from the UK to my place in the US. It cost my around $100 in postage--the price on the box was 49 GBP. An Xbox weighs around 12-14 pounds, maybe around 15-16 with all the packaging.

Will the Mega PC work in the US without a step-up transformer? I'm trying to remember if the unit is all in one or not. If it is two parts, then even if the base unit has the switch, you'd have to be careful plugging the monitor in.

I assume the buyer knows it won't play US games, right?

Would there be customs fees on it, too?

Your best bet to find the price is weigh it and look on www.parcelforce.com

BTW, you won't be able to send it by ordinary post - too heavy. And I think Parcelforce is (usually) cheaper than couriers.

Still, look on the sites of major couriers, too. They all have simple quotation methods based on weight ;-)
