    You know your mods!

They are old pictures, as I tend not to take pictures very often.

I've opened up my Saturn to attempt my hand at this mod, but I don't know enough about circuitry to continue, but I get the theory behind it. Though, I don't get how to "wire it" to do it. I clearly need to do more research to understand better :p

research, and practice, before putting anything near the saturn motherboard.

if you feel confident enough i'd recommend the region free bios mod over the region switch but just my opinion :)

    happy modding

I just need to connect this all together some how, but I guess I need a multimeter to test the power source? Gosh, I feel so dumb XD

Yes, just to be safe. Anyone who pokes inside anything electronics should have a basic multimeter.

Mine's a Radio Shack brand, model 22-183A it has been in use for almost 20 years now, only needed new leads and batteries.

Does this look right? I used a combination of the information here:

    http://www.gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=imports:sega_saturn

    With this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVgbHH-nAIM

In the video, his Jumper layout differs than mine, but rearranging it a little, I tried to apply it to my Jumper layout, though there are two things that confused me, because I don't know if all jumpers follow a strict +5v, GND layout, but from what I gather, this is what it is:

and here is my Jumper layout and the way i've wired it:

Try to keep the wiring future proof. In case you happen upon PAL games later.

Neat to see Parodius in English at 60hz (I've used 4-in-1 cart for that). :smile-new:

Multimeters are a modder's best friend :) Feel like a tool for only grabbing one 5 years back (grabbed it originally for my arcade cab to test the +5v on the PCB), I never heat up my soldering station without one next to me. Great pieces of kit.

scopes end up being very similar once you get used to being able to check things.

Scopes are also bigger. I have an older BK Precision CRT scope, it is rather large and heavy but gets the job done if I need to track down specific signal.

There are smaller digital version with LCD rather than CRT. They probably compare to the size of a basic netbook but I didn't like the jagged look of the sine wave on LCD so I'll stick with CRT for now.

I use a digital one, sits at the back of my bench so it doesnt really take up any "working space"
