I've decided that I should start using my domain for a good purpose (call it a New Year's resolution if you like!), and so I'm going to endeavour to put at least a small site up. I may sit down at the weekend and make it a wiki, but for now I'll just collate the information through this thread. What I am looking to do is give a guide to all consoles, and which version is best (for certain uses). This would obviously take into consideration minor revisions such as board revisions, major revisions (e.g. MegaDrive II), what ports it has, ability to be modded etc. So... here's where you guys come in! Are you an expert on a particular machine? If so, leave a post with as much information as you can give! Thanks :icon_bigg
Feel Free to use anything you find on my website: http://ultimateconsoledatabase.com Although you'll probably find better information on the boards, but maybe you could use some of the pics or something.
Thanks for the generous offer  I hope I don't encroach on your idea too much! I intend it more to be information on the more popular consoles, not necessarily the bizarre or unknown. And it is pretty much to help people who already know about the consoles decide which version would be best for them :icon_bigg Congratulations on the database, BTW! Wow, that's a lot of consoles!
You'd probably get a better response by requesting specific information, instead of just a general question like that. Start with Saturn & Dreamcast I'd say, the board members here seem to be experts on those two consoles.
Yeah, will try to sort out more specifics tomorrow. Am currently holed up with a flu-like virus! Saturn hopefully I know enough about myself I could post this as an example. Dreamcast is a good idea. Also the one I often get confused about - PC Engine! Do I want a Core + CD, Duo, Duo R, Duo RX, US or Japanese unit..... aaargh choices!
We are lazy, you must make it easy for us to give you information Seriously, I think a wiki is the best choice, it's a lot more structured and easier to add on to. While I don't claim to be an expert about the n64, I've spent the better part of this last year researching it and scouring the web. I know a lot about the N64 from a technical and modding perspective, having built a portable n64 some time ago and now programming games for it
