Hey all, a while back I purchased a Mayflash N64 adapter so that I could play a few classic N64 games on my computer by using a controller. I had it set up perfectly last year and it worked like a charm.

However, I recently tried using it again. While playing, my character would move around perfectly for a few seconds, and then would stop moving and even move in a different direction once I released the joystick.

I have looked at all the tutorials I can in setting it up, and have it to where it is almost working, but the analog stick is still messed up. Every time I go to calibrate it in the settings, the crosshair/cursor jumps all over the place. I will try to move it in circles like it asks to, and the shape of the path that the cursor follows is anything but a circle. It just jumps around, and I cannot figure out what is wrong.

I have used three different controllers, and have tried both the Jabo and the n-rage settings, and cannot get it to work.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or, could anyone post a guide showing how to fix it/set it up properly?

Like I said, I have tried going off many different guides/reviews in setting it up, and I have it working except for the calibration part, I cannot get it to where it is stable.

    Thanks,

    Chris

I know there were issues with analouge sticks, where if you turned the console on (computer / emulator in this case) while the stick was not in its central position (default). If the stick was in a different position (left, right, up or down etc) when powering on it would assume that as the default and cause weird controlling issues.

Have a look at this thread, there's a few suggestions.

Let me know how you get on as I was thinking of getting one of these (or something similar).

When you say you calibrate it, are you referring to the game controller calibration in Windows or something else? I also own a Mayflash N64 adapter and I occasionally have issues with the analog stick sensitivity, but once I reconfigure it using Windows game controller calibration it works great.

You have tried 3 different controllers and they all have the same issue? Do they have this issue when you use them on an actual N64?

Did you try using the other controller port? I have this strange issue where sometimes the Project64 controller plugin won't register one of the c-buttons if I use the first controller port, so I have to use the second port to register the inputs then switch back to the first port. It's really only an issue the first time I calibrate a controller plugin and I'm trying to play 2-players (because otherwise I just leave it in the second port).

Thanks for the response guys. Yes, I am using the Window's calibration, am using the correct slot on the controller, and everything worked fine except for the joy stick. I would run in one direction and it was working fine, until a few seconds had passed, and then my character would suddenly stop. I looked at the calibration tool, and the cursor was jumping all around.

However, I tried it with a new controller today, and it is working perfectly. I also switched the USB port to one that I typically reserve for my mouse, though I do not know if that had any effect at all.

To Banjo, I would still highly recommend it. There are a few games online such as Super Mario 64: Star Road that you can only really enjoy with a controller, and besides the slight pain of the initial set up, it really is a great little gadget.

Thanks again for all the help,

    Chris
