hello iam new to the web forum and also the sega saturn!!! anyway..........i got two SS and both are japanese, my soldering skills have improved greatly so i decided on one of the saturns that i would do the region switch!!!! usa and japanese region mod, i accidentally lost 10/11 contacts and also the gnd for 11. i found the trace from ic9 chip!!!!!!(yay!!!!) i did the switch mod by soldering pin 5(10/11) to the switch and borrowing 9's ground. yay fixed put everything together and it powers up!!!! green led, no picture no sound(didn't use a controller there may be sound but it was getting late and i was tried!!!) the disc drive spins and even the laser lens runs too, i even found the switch to act like the disc drive door is shut too and disc spins. ....as of writing this i just realized i used the wrong pin: pin 5 for 6/7 not pin 7 for 10/11 oops please help iam wondering if i killed a capacitor or something else.......i also had solder sizzle and pop by ic9....remember iam still learning and if it can't be fixed i will leave that saturn alone for parts.........i did order a cheap usa model for another try at the region switch.....although the region free bios sounds better......... is the region free bios piggybacked on or completely remove old bios chip??? thank you and much appreciated domo arigatou gozaimasu!!!
