I recently recieved a new copy of battlefront II and cannot start or setup a system link game of 2 xboxes. My friend has also had a similar problem. I was just wondering that in the wealth of video game knowledge that exists on this site if someone could offer me some instruction on the matter as far as what the settings should have to be for regular xbox to xbox systemlink? If anyone could help I would appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
If you don't have a hub, switch,or router in between you're going to need a crossover cable . It's not a normal ethernet cable. The switch would route the traffic to the correct xbox based on the mac address, however without the switch, you'll need a special cable to get it to connect. To convert a normal lan cable to crossover The wires should be as followed. You only need to change one side. 1st connector (end x) 2nd connector (end y) Pins 1-8 X white/green Y white/orange X green Y orange X white/orange Y white/green X/Y blue X/Y white/blue X orange Y green X/Y white/brown X/Y brown So it's about moving four wires. White/green swaps with White/Orange Green swaps with Orange If so very desperately inclined, one could splice by hand.
...Yep X-over cable plugged in and bang you're ready to go, no settings to set up it should all fire up automatically on system link!
Thank you both for your replies. It so happen I do have a hub/switch so I will try this if not I am seasoned at splicing audio equipment etc. Once again thank you both.
Battlefront II, good choice. BTW, if you have LIVE!, they are making downloads where you can get two new Jedi, being able to play hero mode on Kashyyk, and bringing back the popular (and beloved) Bespin and Rhen Var levels back from Battlefront I.
