Hello, all! I've recently come into the possession of an NDEV, and I think that it may have unreleased/beta Wii game data or save data on its NAND. When I opened up the Save Data Utility in the Dev Menu, I saw the following information:

    TITLE: TYPE:
    (0x30303030) DISC

My question, then, is this: how do I go about extracting this data from the box? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I found an SD card and managed to copy at least part of the data. It appears to be a VERY early copy of THQ's "World of Zoo." I'll try dumping it again with an SDHC and I'll post the results.

AFAIK the NDEV doesn't have internal storage so I'm not sure what that could be. Test program perhaps.

From what I can discern, it appears that you're correct. The dump that I have contains filetypes that I've never seen before in a Wii application; the only thing that I recognize is a banner.bin file. Although, after digging through some of the data, it seems that some form of rudimentary gameplay was possible that the developers managed to save. It appears that the developers saved this data to the NDEV's NAND like a primitive WiiWare WAD. There are 6 save files, but I have no way of using them at the moment. Another possibility is that the developers were using this program to test the game's saving functionality, and they used the NDEV's NAND to assess this capability. As soon as I finish setting up everything, I'll be able to delve a bit deeper into the contents of this program. The only thing stopping me from a complete setup is the lack of cygwin; without that, I can't really do much.

Have you made any progress with this?

Hey, I haven't had access to the NDEV for a couple of months, given my current living situation. In a couple of weeks, I'll be staying at the house in which my NDEV resides, and I'll have the ability to work on this again. The good news is that my dev environment is up and running, since I managed to solve my cygwin issue. As an aside, in case anyone else has any interest in ever using Codewarrior for the Wii, I can confirm that setting your system clock back before the license would have expired does work.

I've been digging through the raw files that I managed to extract, and I noticed the Title ID "LOFB" used repeatedly. Does anyone recognize this name? I can't think of a Wii game that uses it offhand, and I haven't been able to locate it with a Google search.

@Tommo92: While this does sound like an interesting prospect that I will consider, I'm reluctant to install anything homebrew-related on the NDEV, even though it would likely work perfectly, for a few reasons. In the event that I ever do decide to sell the NDEV (which is EXTREMELY unlikely), any modifications made to its native settings could potentially reduce its value. As a prospective buyer, I certainly wouldn't want the box to function any differently than the devs would have intended. Also, I don't know how homebrew would affect the NDEV's ability to communicate with a host PC. I can't say that I've heard of anyone who has installed HBC on an NDEV and actually tried to use the tool for its intended purpose: the development of a console game. I haven't actually determined whether this save, if it is a save, follows the same format as a normal Wii game save, so the homebrew app might not even work. If the savegame extractor fails and the NDEV no longer functions properly, then I'm SOL in multiple regards. The risks, in my assessment, outweigh the benefits. If anyone here has installed HBC on an NDEV, please let me know how it worked for you.

    Could you upload the title?
Others may have more luck with identifying what it is/for.

If you use the dol2elf program a user here made you can convert a dol to an elf file. This means you can run homebrew on the NDEV without moding the system. I know it works because I have tested it myself.
