    Hi guys,

(please remove the copy of this thread under this link: [HELP] PSX Mayumi v4, no sound, disc not spinning, it's bugged I guess)

So before I start, my modding experience equals nothing. All I wanted to do, is to play good ol' backup games on my freshly bought PSX SCPH-7502.

I've purchased Mayumi v4 modchip and all necessary hardware to execute the modification.

I've soldered all the wires in appropriate pins (see photos), however, when It came to testing, all I got was the very first intro (the white one) stuck on a Sony logo, with no sound. Moreover, the disc was not spinning at all.

That's when I started to worry. I've unattached all the wires back to the initial state and the console behaved in the very same way (no sound, stuck on Sony logo, disc not spinning). Before doing any work the console was working just fine.

Anyone has a clue why this happens at all? I'm pretty sure I've connected all the laser tapes correctly.

    Here are the photos:

    Thanks a lot in advance.

There's no "vBulletin bug" - if you read the message that came up after all THREE times that you posted the same message, it told you that your message had been added to the moderation queue for approval. This is because you are a new user and your first post contained links (the pictures) - it is our auto-spam system.

Now that you've repeatedly posted, you're probably on the moderation queue for a while. We can't do anything about that - just sit tight and a moderator will eventually approve your posts... and you'll find you eventually get off the queue after a few posts. Please don't keep posting the same thing over and over again! Thanks.

Anyway, I'm seeing solder splashed all over the place. You've probably shorted something somewhere. Get a magnifying glass and check your soldering. Remove all that excess solder.

I see cold joint, excess solder and shorted point. For example check the solder job near the mechacon, that's a whole mess and i think you have shorted some tracks :p
As stated retro check remove the excess solder, clean all and make better soldering.
Ah! and check if you burned a fuse, hopefully you haven't shorted something that have damaged permanently an IC....

Man, you need like 3-4mm of exposed wire per connection. Tin the wire beforehand too. Also reflow the points and add a touch of solder to make the connection better too.

I see a possible solder bridge above IC304, CL706 is probably a bad joint, possible bridge/component damage at FB601 and possible bridge between connections 1 and 2 on Mayumi PCB.

Get some wick, clean everything up, practice your soldering on something you don't care about and then try again.

I would completely remove the chip and get the system working 100% without it... once you get it working then try the chip again. Adding the chip into the mess just adds another variable into the mix of potential problems.
