Help - Region Changer Error (Is my DC Fucked up now?)

Also, just so the info is out there if someone stomps on this thread in the future, you can boot discs even with the black swirl by setting your date to the oldest possible one (01/01/1950) and it'll boot. I then suggest using region-changer to fix your flash!

[EDIT] Seem that info was bogus, atreyu had a 4wire region-free modchip installed that fixed the issue.

 

Sorry for bumping an old thread, I just bought an old Dreamcast today and changed its region to US using this method as I already have a PAL and Japanese DC.

I put the Dreamcast back together without removing the wire, am I understanding correctly that if the chip becomes "fried" as someone put it, atreyu184's method to reflash will fix it? or would you suggest still removing the wire?

Yes I am last I checked, lost access to my old account bud. Going through a nasty divorce after 14 years and seems I have misplaced my life in the process. Went to recover my password but seems it was tied to my closed atreyu187@gmail account so I can't log in with that old account anymore. This is my original account from years ago I am just using it now. Don't do much with Dreamcast anymore I sold all my stuff except my NTSC-U retail set and my two custom Dreamcast.

 

Oh wow. And after that health thing earlier this year too.

But hey, at least you still got a DC spark going.

I think I'm going to remove the wire to be on the safe side, I do sometimes play Phantasy Star Online, online but I use my PAL DC for that.
