I need to remove the metal sheliding on a DVT4 I bought recently. It has what looks like some surface rust on top of the sheliding and I want to see if I can clean it off. Only problem is I don't know how to remove it. I can see that it's clipped in and I know I probably have to force it off. But is there a way to remove it without bending the metal?? Btw here is a pic of the rust. Its the Xbox on the right: http://i.imgur.com/0ohCpUX.jpg EDIT: Ended up painting the metal shielding with a greyish metallic looking spray paint. I think it looks almost the same as a normal piece of shielding. Here is a pic of both kits side by side. The painted on is on the right: http://imgur.com/a/QkEP6
When you have top removed from the xbox if you look at it from the inside you'll see round areas where there's about 4 tabs "biting" into plastic pillars. You need to gently bend those up to release its grip on the plastic, if you don't do this you risk bending the metal or ripping off one of those plastic pillars its holding onto.
So I ended up having to paint the metal shielding. It had some really bad scuff marks on the metal that I could not get off. I ended up taking It to my parents house and my dad had some geyish silver metalic spray paint. It looks great now. I will probably edit the main post with a pic. Thank you again for your help .
Thanks and its not really all that less shiny, its just the light in that room is on the left and lighting was difficult for the picture lol
