If you happen to have a few quid rattling around in your pocket spare (or your PayPal account!), consider donating to The Centre For Computing History's latest project. They have located some ex MOD equipment - mostly Ferranti and Marconi - and only have three days left to raise the amount they require to save it. They need £2,300 and currently have just under £800. They are a registered charity, and UK taxpayers can gift aid their donation. More information, including how to donate, here: http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/pages/16255/Help-Preserve-Computing-History/
The deadline is tomorrow and close to £2,000 has been raised! That's enough for the machine, but the shipping is going to cost a few hundred more! Thanks to all who donated!
Yeah, I was impressed - it was slow going for a while, there! I noticed the day before deadline that they had the required amount, excluding logistics. Apparently they're picking it up in their own van - might require a few trips, then! Anyway, pleased it's safe!
