    Hi all,

Sorry to ask this here as there are a lot of simple tutorial in the web.

I find very confusing how to do it simple, using 2 wires and forgetting about anything else, using the SW4 pin. I currently own 2 saturns, 1 VA7 and other VA9, if the databases online are correct. If someone could tell me if its possible to do this simple mod in this models I would appreciate. If there is a link you can provide better.

The second part is about the VA9 saturn, when playing games in the same TV and cables, has some kind of wave effect, I don't really know what should I do in this regard. Is it the laser dying? If someone has an idea I would appreciate as well.

If pictures of the boards are needed I will put them tomorrow.

    Thanks.

When the wave effect happens, is the Saturn in 60Hz mode? Are you using a RGB SCART cable?

You might want to give this thread a read. You may have the same issue that was discussed there.

    Thanks for the replies.

The Saturns are still without a mod so the waving is not because of that and for what I saw, its also different from the case above.

If someone could help me with the other issue, about modding a VA7 or VA9 I would be thankful.

some pal model 2s and specially va9 got this flickering problem, I experienced it a lot of time. I asked in forums to fix this already but seems no fix exist for this, usually if you keep the console powered on the flickering will decrease.

to do 50/60hz mod you should lift pin 79 of 315-5964 chip (sometimes is called 315-5690 or 315-5890) and do a simple on-on switch with pin 79 in the middle pin and +5v and gnd on the other two pins. this method works with every model

there is the simpler method with the sw4 jumper pins near the battery, but only some revision got these jumpers

At least I am not alone in this flickering... I only note when tested the 2 saturns at the same time.

Kaliki do you have a guide of reference? I am going with the mmonkey but I need more info to feel sure of what I am doing. Other tutorial use the reset button, but I don't want to use it.

    Cheers

For the switch, use a SPDT On/On switch like kaliki said. Just drill a hole on the back and mount it there. Here is a guide for the Saturn region mods that uses 2 SPDT switches and not the reset button (switch less mod): http://www.gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=imports:sega_saturn
