    So I finally found the famiclone I used in my childhood (well not the exact unit, but the same model) This as far as I recall was my first "NES", it was easier and cheaper to find and get this unit in my country than the original NES, it must have been released around 1987-1990, so it really holds a bit of nostalgia for me.

    This unit is not a NOAC clone, but a real hardware clone and as far as I know it even has interchangeable chips with the original NES (but don't quote me on that, I remember reading it somewhere) I can't seem to find any info on the NS-80 model, only the NS-81 :(

    Unfortunately this unit only has RF out, and not sure if it's my TV (tried it on 3 different LCDs) that does not work with RF (can't make my original NES work ove RF either but it works over RCA) or if its the unit itself, but I want to be able to use it. So I read up on AV modding the Famicom, and it seems fairly easy and direct, even tho I have very basic electronics knowledge I can read schematics, solder fairly well and just move around some basic stuff, but I can't really figure out if that mod would work on this unit.

    Can anyone that has any experience with AV modding Famicoms let me know if this would be possible?

    Here are some photos, I can take more if needed. https://imgur.com/a/kYgBhS9

    Thanks!

    TL;DR; Help me AV-mod my childhood famiclone :)

    Edit: I think I posted this in the wrong sub-forum :/ sorry!

    UA6527 = NTSC CPU
    UA6528= NTSC PPU

    If it's a clone chip then let someone else answer if the pinout/functions are the same because I can't find a datasheet, should be able to pull composite from pin 21 if so I would think.

    NES circuit works on the Famicom in the same way, I use this in my Famicom and NES just because it was cleaner and I prefer working with SMD components. Pretty easy to make but wait for someone else to chime in.

    If you're from USA and it turns out the PPU clone is compatible, just send me a message and I'll send you one of these for free, fully assembled.

    Thanks, I appreciate it but unfortunately I am not from the USA, pretty close tho, Mexico :(

    I know I read somewhere about the clone UA6528 and how it was interchangeable with the NES PPU, I am going to see if I can find it.

    The closest I can find is this list, that claims its just a clone of the 2C02G https://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/User:Lidnariq/Known_PPU_revisions

    Edit: and I found it

    from the link: "Yes, 65хх have the same pinout as the official Nintendo parts" unfortunately the links to the images are broken.

    So are you going to do it, it's really simple. I'd offer to do it but I live in USA and it would be too expensive.
