I'm not really sure if this fits the topic. Mods delete if this isn't correct.

Okay, I was reading an FAQ on Fire Red Version Pokemon (US) and it talks about finishing this game you need to trade with someone that has Pokemon that's not in the red version. Is this true? :banghead:

I have the red version for the Game Boy but never got into it. However I came across Fire Red Version for the Advance and I'm hooked. LOL Now I'm stuck between two sleeping Pokemon on the road, blocking me from going on. Plus I have no idea to get Team Rocket to let me in the Gym in Saffron City. I already beat their boss once.

You don't need to trade anything in order to finish the game.

About the other questions, I'll give you a little hint. You need to gain access to Saffron before taking care of the sleeping Pokemon, read carefully what the person which blocks you from going to Saffron says, and you'll know what you need (BTW, you've been in the Celadon Dept. Store already, right?)

    Good luck

Do you have to catch all 150+ Pokemon to finish the game? I'm having the darnest finding Pokemon that I don't already have. :banghead:

I only have 30 of them and I keep going into the grass areas in each town, but I keep seeing the same Pokemon, I'm not having a trouble beating the gym trainers, or any other trainer for that matter. I'm hoping this will change when I reach Safari Zone. From what the NPCs are saying it has all kinds of Pokemon to catch.

Oh how I wish I could play Pokémon for the first time again. Such a wonderful experience playing through Red/Blue.

You can complete it without getting all 150. In fact I think all you get is a certificate for it..

serebii.net - for pokemon areas. try not to spoil the game for yourself, its worth the endevour of finding out the stuff for yourself. also plenty of walkthoughs on youtube. there are 3 or 4 pokemon you cant get that are in the blue version and some final evolved states that can only be gained by trading; alakazam and gravaler for example and some choice pokemon meaning you cant get the others unless you get a gamecube with colosseum and a link cable as you only have the choice once in the game and cant be caught in the wild; evee, the fighting pokemon, and the fossil pokemon.

I have no problem on trying to figure out the game, but I needed to know if I had to catch all 150+ Pokemon there are.

As for linking in, the copy I bought off ebay came with the wireless thingy. I don't know any one with a GameBoy Advance let a lone with the wireless. I have thought about trying to find the the link cable for my GameBoy, so I could link it with Zelda: Four Swords (I know you don't need it to finish the game, I have finished the game like 4 times now. LOL )

In the original red/blue that is all you got. I even went a bit further and got Mew via GameShark back in the day which was nifty but ultimately pointless.

These games don't have much replay value unfortunately. As a bonus once you get 3-4 level 100s there isn't much challenge to anything but playing with other people.

My copy of Diamond has sat on my shelf since I got access to the Pal Park but since I have a DSi XL I can't actually use it.

Oh don't get me wrong. I have the original Pokemon Red version for the GameBoy. I don't know I just couldn't get into it. I had high level characters because I didn't know what to do. Then I just lost interest into the game.

I just got Pokemon Fire Red for my GameBoy Advance, when I started playing not realizing it's the same game with some changes. Here already started it not realizing that this is basically Pokemon Red.

Well anyways this time I got hooked line and sinker! I just can't put it down it down. Now I'm playing this on my DS because I haven't found where I put my GameBoy Advance SP is. This begs the question; Are the Pokemon out for the DS, are they remakes as well? Worth getting and playing?

Hey I just got Snorlax, not like he is any good but I take it as a raw Pokemon!

HeartGold and SoulSilver are remakes of Gold and Silver for the DS. The graphics are a nice touch but I can't imagine they're worth the cash if you own the originals.

No, the only Pokemon games I have is Pokemon Red and Pokemon Fire Red.

So I should look for Pokemon Gold and Silver for the Advance, because it's cheaper? The ones on the DS do they take advantage of the WIFI in the DS? Meaning that you could trade and battle with other people over the internet.

    pipe dream I know. LOL

I have the 151 pokemons in my cartridge and as far as I remember you don't get shit when you get everything. Very disappointing.

Enjoy the game, pokemon games for GB are so awesome.

That's the way I want to play it, if I don't need to get 150+ Pokemon to win the game.

    =Hugh

But the games out on the DS; can you play against others that want to play or maybe looking to trade with others on the internet. I mean the dS has HiFi to get connected.

You can in HeartGold/SoulSilver and Black/White. I don't know about FireRed, don't have that one.

There is no way to directly trade with the DS and GBA Pokemon games. I don't know about HeartGold/SoulSilver but in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum you had to get far enough in the game to unlock the "National Pokedex" (by just seeing each and every Pokemon in the "Regional Pokedex") which encompassed all of the Pokemon in every game and then get the Pal Park unlocked.

Then what you'd have to do is boot up a DS phat or lite with a GBA Pokemon game in the GBA slot with Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and go to Pal Park to "migrate" Pokemon from that specific GBA game that have already been caught. At least that is my understanding, particularly that you need to have already caught the Pokemon you wish to transfer to the Pal Park. Then you get to go into Pal Park and catch them at your leisure. There is also a limitation on how many Pokemon you can transfer per day.

Basically you'll need FireRed/LeafGreen with 100% of the available Pokemon caught and spend weeks transferring over small batches. If you're like me and have a DSi XL you're SOL unless you trade with another DS owner. On top of that I know of noone who has caught every Pokemon in any of the GBA games. I'd wager Nintendo thought it'd be better than nothing and perhaps a way of extending the time spent with the DS and both Pokemon carts but I view it as a MASSIVE impedance to my ability to fully enjoy my games.

I'm looking forward to Nintendo making one massive Pokemon game featuring all of the lands shown to us thus far in one cartridge. Everything catchable by traveling to the land where it can be caught.

Well I beat the game in 3 morning with only one character being level 72 the rest were into there 30's. Just to mention that the game does let you go back to catching the Pokemon (at least the ones on the cart), after the credits (well after it restarts it's game starter screens (not game play screens)).

Was a little disappointed that it was a short game though. :/
