    Hi people!

I have a question about my MC exploited PS2. I have the key launcher program and all that working. I also have EXECFTPS running so I can make a FTP server.

I was able to use Flash FXP to connect to my console. However I cannot find the place on my HDD where games are stored. I ripped a DBZ game to it using HDadvance and it plays great.

However I hope to be able to use flashFXP to go into my console and drop games and pull them off. I want to keep backups on my PC hdd and then just put the games I want to play on there.

So I need to be able to access the folder or area where the games are stored on the HDD. However I cannot find this?

I have no idea why not. I have heard I have to make some kind of partition or something, however if this is the case how do I already have a game on there without doing this.

Also I have heard you have to set some kind of command in FlashFXP to access the HDD or something. But what I was able to locate on yahoo/google is mostly jibberish and incomplete directions.

Any help is greatly appricated. Thanks!

Execftps won't access the partitions created by hdl, you need hdldumb and its ps2-side server called hdld-svr.elf:
    http://hdldump.ps2-scene.org/
the svr.elf is in the older versions page, check the 0.8.5 version.
The GUI version won't allow you to transfer games from PS2 to PC, the CLI one will.
There's a GUI called PS2HDDUT that allows to transfer from PS2 to PC too, but it work with an old version of hdldump and I haven't tested it with the last one...

Thanks guys. I have been succesful in using hdl dumb to get at my games on the HDD. I can now browse the games on the HDD and remove them and copy ISO files over.

However its painfully slow. It takes me about 45min to copy a 3.5 gig games from my PC to my PS2. I know it should be much faster as I can copy larger games to my xbox on the same network and it will always take less then 10 min.

Is there a way to speed things up other then pulling the drive and mounting in my PC???

Also which is a better program? Keylauncher or ulaunchelf?

Also I downloaded HDLoader 8b for mem card. Thats the newest best and most compatable one correct?

    Thanks!

You could pull the hdd and hook it up to your PC with an ide to usb2 adapter...
I'm using keylauncher as it's really simple but ulaunchelf is obviously better due to its many functions (far too many to list them all here, read its dedicated thread at ps2-scene), and don't trust dlanor's advice(he's one of ulaunchelf's maintainer)...
The hdl 0.8b is the latest and thus the most compatible one.

Keylauncher... I heard some versions have nasty bugs that can simply kill the HD. Be careful

Anyway, you can put your HD on the PC and transfer games using Winhiip. It's faster than HDL_Dump but you can break the Network Adaptor connector because constantly disconnecting / connecting the HD back to the PS2 (Yes, the connector on the PS2 is that cheap).

Anyway, the latest HDL_Dump have transfer speeds of 2.2mb/s (the first ones could not pass 1.0mb/s)

Yes, HD Loader 0.8b is the latest version. While the splash screen is showing on the screen you can select DMA modes (slower or faster access to the HD, that will help / fix some game compatibility)

PS: I hope all this talk is not being used for piracy. Otherwise i wouldn't be helping.

Nah, I dont really have need to pirate PS2 Games. I have all the games I want for the console, save for a few cheaper titles I havnet gotten around to picking up yet.

I mainly just want to do it so I can have all my favorite games on there that I play alot. I take my Xbox when I go places because I have games on the HDD. But I always wanted to take my PS2 for games like Armored Core and FFX. However I usually have cousins or realitves that play it to when I take it places, and Im not to happy about taking discs with me lol.

Anyway I think I am on track right now with things. however I will post back if I get stuck. Thanks for the help fellas!

Sorry to double post but does anyone know if theres a key combo I can use to do a soft reset on the PS2. I hate running EXECFTPS and then having to turn the console off and back on again. The same thing with HDLoader.

If there was a way to softreset from the controller that would be super. Thanks!

You can't soft reset the ps2 when running execftps, maybe if it was launched by inlink/ps2link, but I'm not sure of that, I haven't used it for a long time...
When you run a game from hdloader, you can reset the ps2 by tapping the reset button twice or turning it off with one tap, no way to do that with the controller without some hardware modifications of both controller and console...
