Help with hardware

So I am sick of my cart giving me shite about games like Golden Axe III and Thunder Force IV and I have a model 1 Genesis, well I am in a good position of aquiring a freaking sweet Megadrive I have always wanted and that would remedy my region problems but I am afraid my model 1 Sega CD will not work on a Megadrive. I know the cart allows for loading of a region free BIOS but I don't want to drop $45 on a MD that can't play my CD games either as I am a Working Designs whore and simply can't live without games like Vay. Anyone able to shed some light on the subject?

 

i can use any model and any region cd unit with any genesis/megadrive. just need to load free region bios or original bios which match to main deck region

Ok cool I am ordering a Megadrive as they are so sexy, and Krizz I got my cart turns out from your site not stoneage as I thought. They said return it as out of region games weren't working right Golden Axe 3 (spits out region problem and would love to youtube the video which I am going to do now for you) in particular and any version of SSF2 will not work either with a RED screen. They said RMA the cart do you think I should

Everdrive 2.4 OS29 4gb SDHC and 1gb SD cards used all yield same effect.

 

Golden Axe 3 doesn't work for me either.

SSF2 is perfect on mine. But I wouldn't worry about that game. US copies are *ultra common*. They can be found here even complete with box and booklet, under $10 including postage.

Going to grab it right now and if you wouldn't mind sharing how you defeated the region lockout I would be in your debt. I am just not sure what is what as I said I am a new Everdrive MD owner. Will test tonight once the kid is off to bed. Thanks again for the help and I am glad I am not the only one who's Megakey doesn't work. Hopefully it can happen to Krizz so he can make a fix in a firmware update.

Got SSF2 working but again I had to use my region ROM or GG code and it was a no-intro ROM I used as all Good ROM's froze on what I thought was a red screen but it turns out it was trying to play the ROM but froze and locked up when you load the game from out of region without a GG code & since the megakey doesn't work you get a warning screen stating you are "Attempting to play a Megadrive game on an out of region system" message on you guessed it, a big huge red background screen like the one my cart kept locking up on using the Good ROM set over the no-intro.

 

Since I'm curious... Why the specific interest of using a rom SSF2 over cart anyway? I wouldn't want to bear through everdrive's load time for such large games more than necessary.

 

I have a small child and I don't collect anything other then Dreamcast stuff as I can't afford to really. One day when she is gone and I can afford to get more toys I will till then this flash cart will have to suit me is all.


@KRIKzz I got a Megadrive today to see if it fixes my megakey problem. If it does do you want my Genesis so you can find out the error of the Megakey not working?

I don't know if CDX would survive that voyage. Ones with a known working CD drive are hard to come by...

 

I didn't say cdx I said my late model 1st gen Genesis is what I was offering to ship. My model 1 cd stays with me and im just getting a megadrive instead of a genesis as the model I am getting has the better sound card.

Now back to this hacked ROM, it works fantastic with no gg codes so please share how you did this for my other problematic games like thunder force v.


And ill have the genesis out to you as soon as my megadrive arrives and ill get you a shipping quote as I will use a medium flat rate box to ship it. I could stick it in a heavily padded envelope for cheaper but I'm concerned about it surviving A trip to ukraine from united states that way. But it's only 15 dollars to ship that way as opposed to the 40 something For the flat rate box but it will be system only I'm sure that won't be a problem for you.

 

Sorry about any confusion. I meant myself there. My cdx has the same megakey issue, that both of us encounter on model 1.

 

Ahhh well I am hoping I don't have the problem with my new Megadrive. I guess we will see.
