I cant say that I have experience with this particular circuit but I do have lots of experience buying from raphnet. Once, I did buy a Gamecube to N64 adapter and it didnt recognize any of my controllers. I mentioned the issue to him and he promptly sent a replacement. Even though he quality checks his stuff before it goes out, it may be bad. Have you contacted him about it?

If you have not already, id take a multimeter and check all the wiring to the circuit. Also, is that a bare copper wire soldered in? Lastly, its hard to tell but it looks like some solder on the N64 data line (pc3) is touching the SNES data line (pc2). Maybe try cleaning up the solder a bit.

I built that circuit myself but I made a SNES to Wiimote (same circuit though).

If you launch a Virtual Console game, does it make it past the screen that says "a Classic Controller is needed" or does it stay stuck there? If it stays stuck there then it's not recognizing at all.

Also, double check that you used the correct pinout for the Wiimote cord... the first time I built the circuit I had accidentally mirrored the wiring from the connector, fixed it and all was good.

Looking at your name, that seems to be a common occurrence ;)

I contacted him but I haven't gotten a reply yet, probably because the weekend.

It is a bare copper wire, which I also thought was strange, but that's the nunchuck detect wire. I'll try cleaning the solder up and give it another go, thanks!

If I opene a VC game it stays stuck on the 'a classic controller is needed'. Also if I plug it in on the main wii screen my wiimote cursor disappears.
I thought I mirrored them too and switched them to the same effect.

After I contacted raph from raphnet, he told me to try attaching the bare copper wire to ground. I did that and it still doesn't respond. The wii detects the wiimote fine now(it didn't before), but it doesn't recognize when I plug in the n64 controller.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    - John

I have done many of Gamecube, NES and SNES controllers using Raphnet's circuits and all of them work fine.
I didn't use Ralph's PCB, but build my own. It is too expensive to buy it.
Here is my last work (without Sppedlink controllers):

    and how it works:

I want to sell it, but I can't make a new thread in Marketplace (post limit).
I will look at Your's PCB and try find something.

I don't use original nunchuck cable (3rd party extension cables) and all of cable colours are diferent.
    Red - SDA
    Black - SCL
    Yellow - VCC

Did You use a multimeter before soldering?
    Look at this picture:
    wiring_wiimote_plug.jpg
take a multimeter and check cable colours.
    PC5 - SCL from Wiimote
    PC4 - SDA from Wiimote
    PC3 - Data from N64
    "-" - GND from N64 and Wiimote
    "+" - 3.3V from N64 and Wiimote

Check the braiding of Wiimote cable. I don't remember but there was something odd with this cable (it wasn't GND I think).
Check the connections between pads (PC5<=>PC4 and PC4<=>PC3), because on this picture it look soldered.

I switched to a 3rd party nunchuck and now it works great.

    Thanks,

Glad you got it sorted. I get my Nunchuk/Wiimote cables by ordering cheap 3rd party $3 Nunchuks on eBay and cut the cable from them.
