so i recently modded a sega saturn with a region free bios and a phantom modchip. All was well before i sent it out to a customer, i was able to run any game i wanted, legit and burned media from all regions as expected. everything was fine.

When i sent it out the a customer he claims that he isn't able to play burned games but is able to play legit games. iv'e tried everything under the sun to try and fix this; Burning and verifying his discs then running in a emulator to see if it works, try reseatting the the ribbon cables on the chip, check if the orientation of the chip is correct, everything i could possibly think of and still he is not able to play his burned games. Can anyone help here? It would be greatly appreciated.

Is he closing the lid before turning on the console?. When you have the lid open before turning on the Saturn it disables the chip.

Maybe the discs aren't being burned properly?

He tells me he is, he said he is burning them at 8x on verbatim discs that seem to work on emulators.

Pardon me i'm not trying anythin to damage kappa or something

    - we had a deal on modded saturn

    - for now the unit does no work with backups even he claims there's pahntom modchip

    - i have burned 10 cdr tried different methods ranging from imgburn to cdrwin

    - we have checked inside out everyhting is tight and well connected

    - no problem booting legit game first time without problems

    - the cd drive doesn't even spin when cdr is in it's just drop dead just checking disk

I have tried now lid closed when turning on the console and it doesn'r make a difference..For now i'm desperate to get it to work as promised..

    Thank for your suggestions

Im not trying to blame you for anything, i want this fixed just as much as you do.

You got to look at it from my perspective, I as a seller knew this was working as intended whilst it was in my possession. So as far I know it was working until you received it, and i want to make this clear that Im not blaming you for anything that has happened to the system whether its broken or not, i am trying to go through every possible solution to get this sorted.

Copy a proper Saturn CD with CloneCD. If that works, it's either the images you're using or the method you're using to burn.

Eh? You both said it works fine with retail games.

Buy one - you'll get Sega Rally or something like that on eBay dirt cheap - maybe even a local retro shop. How can you test the laser/console is good without a retail game?

There's one on eBay £4 buy it now, free shipping.

He told me he had visited a friends house who had a few games to test but because of the distance they live from each other it isn't convenient I guess

Things get bumped around in transit

Send him a burned copy of a game that you know works or had tested in the system before, shouldn't cost much to ship that. If that fails, I would assume it was damaged in transit, as Bad_Ad84 mentioned.

Use a Different CD BURNER, I've had troubles in the past with backups on certain Burners, my laptop tends to screw them up almost every burn but my LG burner in my desktop will burn anything :D
