A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that Hexic HD is not available on xbox marketplace. After some searching, i've heard that it's never been available to buy, it came pre-installed on xbox 360s with a hdd. If you delete it, the only way to get it back is to ring microsoft customer support and say it was accidentally deleted, then you get a download code which reinstalls it. As I bought my 360 elite second hand and Hexic HD wasn't on it, an I entitled to get it? I'm not sure if every hdd based 360 had it pre-installed, and whether they would issue me with a download code as the console is 2 years old.
Every one of them should have had it installed. Customer service would be the only ones who can help restore it.
I rang MS support and got through to an Indian call centre. Lots of background noise and a strong Indian accent makes having a conversation almost impossible. I spent about 5 minutes trying to spell my name then hung up. I'll try again later...
First thing i did was to wipe my hard drive and lose the game. (Because the xbox had been used by someone else for like 4 hours before i brought it off them lol)
Yeah, the screenshots for it don't look too healthy compared to the original. Hmm. Anybody know if this would work? I thought it would be non-transferrable between consoles.
3rd time phoning customer support and I finally got a rep from the US. After a half-hour call, taking details etc, he escalated the matter and told me a supervisor will call me back on monday evening with a redeem code to get the game back. You'd think MS would have a simpler way of doing things, i.e: a web interface to check your consoles serial to make sure it came with a HDD, then issue the redeem code, which I believe is console-specific.
Im pretty sure Hexic is one of those unlocked titles that work regardless of wether the console id and/or profile id match up. there were a small number of titles that worked of a cd, mainly the titles that were given away free from M$ such as the doritoes promo game etc etc. Never understood why it wasnt on the marketplace to begin with, i mean i understand the fact its exclusive to consoles equiped with HDD's but really, there are far better games they could have bundled and its not like having hexic or not would be a major factor in deciding wether to buy a HDD equiped box or not.
Microsoft is really stingy about giving away stuff for free through Xbox Live. They probably don't want to waste the bandwidth.
Got through to a US call centre on friday, Indian rep called me back on saturday with the code. What a laugh that was. Indian rep: "Do you have pen and paper ready for writing code?" Me: "Yeah" Indian Rep "Your code is, B for charlie..." Eventually got it and it's in my download history now.
enjoy it man. I lost a lot of hours to that. You think you'll have one quick go before bed because it's too late to start something else and then before you know it...
