Hi everyone! I'm Novafawkz, Just a musician who likes playing games. More specifically, older games. I have an unusually large passion for anything "retro". Apart from the Wii U(and occasional 3DS), I don't play many modern consoles. It's not that they're bad, moreso they're expensive. Instead I just have a collection of older consoles and accessories, albeit not very big. The rarest item in my extremely tiny collection is probably my XDK, other than that the only *semi* rare things I own are Broadband adapters for the dreamcast (2 in boxed, 1 on my dreamcast). I have just about every major first party(Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) console up to the last gen, and I hope to someday collect all the more obscure and rare consoles(With the Sharp X68000 or X1 TWIN being my ultimate goal). I'm very new to modding and just am getting into it, I bought my first soldering kit a few days ago, and my plan is to mod my consoles for either extra fans, LED's, or new audio / video out(I want my Gamegear to have VGA out damn it!). I also have been making electronic music for ~5 years but got into trackers about 3 months ago, Now I'm learning to make chiptunes for actual consoles as a side hobby. Flash carts with LSDJ are the best! I'll admit I've been a lurker of this forum for a while, but its nice to finally be apart of a community that has so much in common with loving older games as much as me!
Welcome! Game Gear VGA is no easy task - you'll want to practice your soldering skills before doing any mods, let alone something of that complexity!
Hi Novafawkz, Modding a GG with VGA output is a great idea please leave us with pictures on your progress might give it try myself as well if only time would permit. Have fun.
Yeah, any resources you may know of that might help aid me in my quest? I'm completely new, I don't really know /too/ much about circuits either.. Well, I'll need to learn to solder first. Might take a bit. But when the time comes, I'll definitely show results~!
