There are Great Games there are Bad games and there are...Bad games that turn out to be good. I could mention Kakuto Chojin as one such game But there's one series I have in mind Samurai Spirits/Shodown The 2d Games are legendary However I feel V and Tenka are steaming piles of poo V Special is good but in their infinite wisdom SNK hasn't released it outside of the Neo. In 3d space Shodown 64 was ground breaking with it's tired fighting planes while it's sequel was just EH Now we get to bad games that aren't too bad. Warrior Rage for the PS1 was Ugly and looked dated but what I played wasn't that bad And it was a very fluid game and the animation for what it was isn't too bad. But it's small roster held it back and some say it's a bit on the slow side. Next is the other 3d Showdown we can play at will Sen Lets get Sen's Flaws out of the way It's ugly while it's not unbareable to look at stages are dark Character models aren't too great animation is stiff like a bunch of Full Sail Grads made the graphics It's not a pretty game I've seen XBOX Indie games with better Character models. The Music is good but suffers over sampling and is staticy and muffled. The AI is pretty mean if you play on default. But then by some sheer miracle you get an online match which I did and that's when I started to find the finer things about the game. The Game plays like a Cross between Soul Calibur and Bushido blade and the 1 online match I had was intense me and my Foe stalled to see who would make the first move and that's when I found it to be enjoyable. Then I changed the difficulty and played through story and found a good game to blow off steam with. At $50 it's robbery but $20 there are worse games you can get for that. Plus it's bloody again and dismemberment is fun. So what about you all? what's your game that isn't as bad as reviews say both press and fan reviews mind you.
Senko no Ronde got horrible reviews when it came out, but I liked it. Most of those reviews seemed to be because of the price, though, and they were right that it should've never been $50.
DeathSmiles got the same treatment stating it should've been an XBLA game. I did spend the full $60 on Senko though...I regret it Not a bad game at all but like you said not worth $60
well Romancing SaGa on ps2 had bad reviews (honestly i think those came from reviewers that played the game no more than 1 hour), but it's been one of the most pleasant games i've played in a long time...
I really liked Megaman Soccer when I was 13. It really was a solid, fun Soccer game. Then I upgraded to ISSS Deluxe and that was that. But Megaman Soccer was still awesome in my opinion, even though everyone else thought it was shit.
I'm glad you think so, I remember reading the reviews in the day and thought to myself I've only heard the soundtrack and seen some gameplay videos but i know it's a good game. And probably RPG fans can appreciate it.
I think a bad game that actually is good is Evil Zone for PSX. It's the only fighting game I can actually play, it only uses two buttons! Also it makes it out like you are watching a show as you move though the story mode. =Hugh
I enjoyed Azurik on the Xbox, as well as that Obi-Wan game. Edit: And Nightcaster now that I think about it. And Blood Wake. Hm, I seem to have liked the Xbox's first year more than any of the others.
Blood Wake was nice, especially those stunning water physics/graphics for a 2001/2002 game. I liked Wreckless a lot (also an Xbox launch-title). The German localisation was hilariously awful, worse than a 1975 Shaw Bros movie. The game, however, was quite fun to play (albeit being pretty tough at times) and I never regretted the purchase. But it did lack a "free roam" mode so hard, what were they thinking?
