Hey all, I'm a UK collector with no real focus. I tend not to bother with games that are silly valuable that aren't great to play, I'd rather by 10 decent games than 1 rare one! The flip side of this is simply that I end up with too many games, and not enough time to play them! I tend to prefer Nintendo for most games, though 360 for current titles. Fave console would be a toss up between the SNES and N64, and I own most mainstream stuff from the NES onwards, with the exception of Sega stuff as I never really got into it.. I've dabbled with development as a games tech graduate, but work as an SQL code monkey so am easily classified as a beginner developer! S'pose that's enough for now Chris
Hello sir, and welcome to the wonderful world of Assemblergames. Assembler will be here shortly to take your hat.
Hey ! Welcome here, you'll find many interesting informations & people. "collector with no real focus", don't you say 'headless chicken' for this in UK ? ;-) About rare games, don't be too confident, you'll buy them just after you'll have finished buying all the 'decent' ones ! All the best
haha, you might well be right. Headless chicken is right enough too! I've always been a bit of a Nintendo fanboy, so my collection focuses primarily on Nintendo games. Nintendo console wise... I have a NES, a few SNES with a little over 100 games (though all PAL unfortunately), maybe 80% boxed with manuals, N64 UK and NTSC, a few different gamecubes, including uk RE4, uk mario smash football and metroid prime editions, a jap switched purple launch one plus a Jaoanese Tales of Symphonia edition. Games wise, I have approx. 60/40 split of pal/ntsc gamecube titles, maybe 120 in total and virtually all decent (at the time anyway) games. Hand held wise, I have all the gameboys except a GB Lite - including the awesome GBA SP front lit AGS-101 and a couple of micros, each DS, a couple of game and watches.. I like to play around with hardware on occassion so I have fitted a backlight to an original gameboy for pitch black gameboy action. I also have a Neo Geo Pocket Colour with GBA SP front light, though obviously that's only part Nintendo I also have a proper mint Virtual boy and maybe 8 or so games, all bought new and kept in perfect condition. Add to that some dreamcast bits, playstations, ps2, ps3, xbox and 360 and I have an attic full of games stuff! The most interesting non-Nintendo bits are probably my dev bits. A Net Yaroze playstation, ps2 with full linux kit and the 4 360 XDKs I'm trying to fix (only 1 successful so far!) along with empty casings (unfortunately) for 360 XDK and XeDK proto, green debug and crystal development original xbox. Fun and games, games, and more games! Chris
Well, I see... Very nice list of items !!! I don't know many things about Nintendo games and consoles to be honnest, I had to buy the DS to play the 3 episodes of Castlevania (that I would strongly recommend !) but that's roughly all I know ! The Playstation (and PS2) is my favorite, the Net Yaroze model is very nice (as Debug models) ! If I could, I would just ask you a question (I know it's not the best place to ask this but that would be ridiculous to create a thread for this) that you might have the answer : there is a compilation for the XBOX 360 called 'Konami Classics' (volume 1), this was released as an NTSC game but do you know if that one is region free ?
never come across the Konami collection, but play Asia ( who are, in my experience usually pretty accurate) say no.. http://m.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-fa-49-en-70-3nu1.html
Right, thank you for the link ! I still wonder why this game is NTSC and multi 5 Europe (english, french, german, italian, spanish) at the same time ?... May post a topic about this sometimes at the end !
