    Hi Guys,

Bit of an obsessive collector here... well... I was.. sold it all... and started again just before xmas... the week before infact!

My credit card has taken such a beating!

    Systems I own:
    NES - to fix
N64 - possible RGB mod planned
Gamecube - GBA adaptor in the post - Planning to region free mod it as I'm not paying £50 for the boot disk for the GBA player!! plus wouldn't mind trying some jp games!
Mega Drive x2 - TMSS free one and TMSS one - I have plans for the 2nd one.. bought as faulty cause my other one was missing the ext cover and it was cheaper than the cover on it's own!
Saturn (jp) x4 - bought in hopes of salvaging at least one... one works after pulling up the spindle, another the motor still works so will attack the other two in hopes i can get a second one working!
    PS2 Slim line
PS3 x2 - first one went YLOD so replaced it... thought i had binned it but found it so will try to fix it myself... but not put it in the oven!!
Wii - was a wedding present but barely play it...

I'm trying to run everything through a Framemeister.... it's an amazing bit of kit... and i'm going to try to do a retro gaming channel on youtube in hopes of recouping some of the cash back!! :D It'll probably be bad! :p

Anyhow.... Thats my little intro... if you want to know anymore give me a shout!! Still have plans for a PC Engine/TG16 and maybe more systems!

Also want to find out if it's possible to remove TMSS from the genesis... but i need to learn to program for that! lol!

    Welcome.

What is wrong with your NES?

Would you consider adding a modchip to the Gamecube you plan on making region-free? XenoGC chips are cheap and add a lot of additional benefit.

PS3 YLODs mostly come from BGA heat transfer issues. It would do you a lot of good to know someone nearby (maybe a specialty shop) with a reballing station!

The nes has the flashy light thing.. probs just needs a new pin thing but I was hoping to find a card slot to rplace it so I could just shove it in...

That's the plan with the gc..

Don't really want to pay anyone to fix the ps3... just fancy trying to fix it myself!!!

NES: Disable lockout chip, install 72-pin connector (or clean/re-align your old one) - easy fix!

BGA reballing can be done by hand with some masterful skills, knowledge, and a steady hand. Practice makes perfect. Best of luck -

I saw saw couple of vids on YouTube about it... one guy covered the board in foil and pu pu in the oven!!! Another guy heated heated Pyrex dish on the hob and then put the board over it to heat the bottom while heat gunning th top... was gonna try that one...

And for the nes I know it's an easy fix but I hate the toaster method but it was £20 rather than the £90 or so I saw the pal top loader for... I like to mess with stuff!
