sorry if this is the wrong forum, wasnt exactly sure if it belonged in marketplace or not. im moving, havnt touched a lot of the stuff in a long time, and its getting destroyed laying about. i thought about selling it but im pretty sure that would depress the fuck out of me...i dont have anyone in my family interested enough in video games to unload it on...so i was thinking about giving the bulk of it to a childrens hospital, not entirely altruistic as i want to be able to write some of it off...but have no real idea what the value of what i have is. it might be too much to list in the price check thread, it would be one long post. i was just going to look at prices on ebay and amazon as a reference, unless someone has a better idea...because that would take for ever. i hope someone has a better idea. some of the stuff i might keep or might sell, nothing all that exciting. most of it is not development related so does that even belong in the market place? has anyone here done this, just gone and said fuck it, getting rid of everything. do you regret it? i have soo much shit its unbelievable and i look at it all and just think all this crap i invested so much money and time in its all worthless garbage cluttering up my life, yet at the same time i feel attached to it all. anyways, sorry if this is in the wrong place.

just need some advice. i was thinking childrens hospital but really it could be any charity, im not particular...a good portion of my newer games are violent and have mature content so i dont know if that would leave some organizations out. a good portion of the games are pretty dated, i cant see a lot of people getting excited about c64, 2600, nintendo games.

if anyone has some ideas/advice, that would help me out a lot. thanks

dev stuff your best to build a list of and send to a mod for price checking.
Old stuff i'd probably bulk sell on ebay or on the forums. Childrens hospital would be great for more modern recent stuff (Like any DS/Wii/PSP/PS3/360 stuff).

In all honesty I don't think a Children's Hospital would be all that interested in anything pre-PlayStation 2 as the kids using it wouldn't care about something they either didn't know about or were familiar with.

As for mature content titles for newer consoles and the rest of your older stuff just ebay them or auction them here in the BST section. If you're getting rid through ennui or because you've come to a point in your life where you either can't be arsed or just don't see the point anymore I'm guessing you're not being driven by financial reasons so anything you recoup is better than nothing. Make up job lots, bundles and the like with reserves or post a concise list with 0.01p starts and see how things go. A member recently got a tidy sum from running a 2 week auction thread here, obviously there's less bidders but at least you'd know that the majority of you stuff would go to collectors who'd keep and cherish said items instead of gougers looking to resell.

As for getting shot of everything or just certain items and later regretting it well that happens to all of us. From what and how you've typed your question though it seems to me that you've already made up your mind to get rid, the only reason you're still holding on is because you think you should do. If you've got shitloads of stuff maybe that in itself is the problem. Maybe with a smaller collection you'd feel happier, so is it possible that a full clear out is what's needed so that you can take time out, re-evaluate what you want from gaming - if anything - and start afresh with a new focused energy? Either way, only you truly know where your future with collecting lies.

Good luck with whatever it is you decide to do
