By using a PAL GC/TV and forcing NTSC/NTSC setting with qoob sx modchip BIOS a hidden *3D mode in Resident Evil Code Veronica X (USA) for Gamecube can be triggered.

(* classic 3D mode where goggles with red & green lens are needed)

I got this info from Gordy (a guy in another forum) and wanted to share it, but maybe it's old news?

At first I thought this guy had regular PAL/NTSC probs and tried to help him fix it. ;)

Hmm im a bit skeptical on it. Does he actually have 3d glasses to test this on? I dont have the UK version but doing what he said with the Japanese release yields nothing. My guess is its just corruption in the signal or a really bad tv.

I've had similar things happen to me like this but I dont recall ever trying 3D glasses on. The signal's being forced is most likely the culprit however if it IS a real mode my guess is that it would be used in the First Person view mode the game has. But thats extremely unlikely. On would wonder why this mode is activated by forcing a region signal too. Its probably just because of the forcing.

clearly no stereoscopic mode, most likely really just signal issues. the offset of the blue and red would have to be horizontally, not vertically as it is in the second picture.

You mean the red and the green? Horizontal or vertical would depend on where it's pointing in the 3d dimension. Since I haven't tested it myself, haven't got Code Veronica X (USA) yet, there is no way for me to verify, but the guy say the cut scenes don't have this effect, shouldn't a rgb prob be constant?

IF it was an RGB problem then the cut scenes would ahve the same problem. However, we will never know until someone actually has 3D glasses and tries them out.

Yes, I used to have a pair of 3D glasses made from paper and plastic that came with a dirty magazine. ;-) All you need is one eye with red filter and the other green.

Will ask Gordy for more pics and maybe a video, the original forum thread is here.
