Hey everyone. HPZ recently released two Lion King prototypes for SNES. One is very early and the other is a bit later but still contains a lot of differences in comparison to the final. You can check them out here (I also wrote a list of differences for the two earlier ones that you can read too): http://hiddenpalace.org/The_Lion_King_(Early_Prototype) The title screen is completely different, animations are either unfinished or different all together, each level is unfinished save for the first, music differences, rough “wireframe” models of animated sprites, and more. http://hiddenpalace.org/The_Lion_King_(v.21_prototype) This build contains many aesthetic differences, such as different object placement, an even more difficult version of the second level, unfinished bonus stages, and an unfinished version of the last level (the fight with Scar). I also mirrored the prototype that was released on ASSEMBler not too long a go for completions sake. http://hiddenpalace.org/The_Lion_King_(v.48_prototype) (BTW, I wanted to ask. Is it okay to double/triple/quadruple/etc post in this thread in case there's no activity but there are new releases to post? Also, would simultaneously posting in both the Download section and here okay?)
Yes it is ok. You're adding more content far apart. It's only considered double/triple posting etc if you do it within the same hour/day for example.
For my 500th post on Assembler! Sonic the Hedgehog CD (Aug 1, 1993 prototype) A Christmas present for Sonic CD fans! This Sonic CD prototype arrived in the mail today. It’s a late review copy of Sonic CD, dated about a week before the final Japanese release. It’s similar to the final, but it has a few small differences here and there. Merry Christmas! Also, in case you missed it, we also released Captain Lang and Mickey Mania prototypes courtesy of Bramsworth a while back: http://hiddenpalace.org/News/Captain_Lang_and_Mickey_Mania_Prototypes
Can't believe it's been a year since my last post. Merry Christmas! Today I have two prototypes to share with you. One is a nice prototype of Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko for the Sony PlayStation. A nice debugger is enabled to help play through the unfinished content. Secondly, we have a late prototype of Tomb Raider III for the Sony PlayStation. This one has its oddities, but thankfully also has a level select enabled to help you play through the entire prototype. We made very lengthy videos covering a little bit of everything as well so be sure to take a look. Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko (Dec 30, 1998 prototype) Tomb Raider III (Oct 5, 1998 prototype) Until next time!
And to kick off 2019, some MediEvil goodness: http://hiddenpalace.org/News/A_Spooky_New_Years http://hiddenpalace.org/MediEvil_(Jun_22,_1998_prototype) http://hiddenpalace.org/MediEvil_(Jul_9,_1998_prototype) http://hiddenpalace.org/MediEvil_II_(Dec_20,_1999_prototype) http://hiddenpalace.org/MediEvil_II_(Feb_29,_2000_prototype)
Figured I'd let you know that they work on PS3 with Webman, which loads isos. I cant say if it works via a real disc but it works exactly as described and perfectly except for some intense slowdown in one room on Medieval 2 (i dont remember which one was a late night)
An Old Can of Worms... http://hiddenpalace.org/News/An_Old_Can_of_Worms Earthworm Jim (Aug 4, 1994 GameMaster prototype) Earthworm Jim (Aug 19, 1994 prototype) Earthworm Jim 2 (Apr 24, 1995 prototype). This is the coolest one in the lot. Earthworm Jim 2 (Sep 7, 1995 prototype)
Reposting this here as well (I forgot this thread existed lol): Read the announcement article and download the game here and here. This was another one of those "games that announced 32x ports that was never released". The reports that the 32x version would've only had a palette change and more parallax scrolling are true, it doesn't look like there are other changes here except for that. I believe this is also a prototype of the final game as well, so there might be some differences besides that. Thanks to Radar/Junoman for this release. Enjoy!
