Usually these kits look kinda ghetto to me, but this looks way pro! Source: http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f82926827 -ud
Konami made/used these? I thought these things came from China in the very late part of the PS2's life.
Looks really awesome! But it looks like you have to disassemble it to change media. Ever saw those things for the Dreamcast too. This one I just found on Google, but there was also a model where you had to insert the entire console just like the PS2 one. The PS2 one looks high quality though... Makes me dream of building a custom arcade cabinet again...
The later drum mania and DDR machines used these as they were cheaper to build then the exisiting hardware and porting games was easier too.
That looks "pro" because it is. You're looking at the main board from a DDR SuperNova machine (I mentioned this in another thread recently). The board consists of a Japanese PS2 (SCPH-5000 series), plus a network adapter and hard drive. The game itself is loaded on the hard drive, NOT on a CD or DVD. -hl718
Probably isn't too bad, has it's stock fan plus that tiny (40mm?) fan blowing out the back. You have to keep in mind that the games it would be used for aren't really hardware intensive.
I know a lot of arcade boards are based on home systems, but I didn't know they started using actual retail PS2 hardware. The DC - JAMMA box looks very professional but I'm almost sure it's not officially licenced by Sega.
