Has anyone ever laid eyes on this second edition from Hitachi? I've seen the original MMP-1, but I've yet to even see a picture of the MMP-11.
I'm sure NFG has. Check out this page, http://nfg.2y.net/games/hisaturn/ Scroll down to about the middle of it, and there's a picture of the MMP-11 Hi-Saturn. He used to post here, but it's been a while since he's been around.

Take a closer look at it my friend. That IS the second edition. Not only are the circle buttons a clear sign of this, but on the lid it says MMP-11.
AH, OK. I must have been hitting the crack pipe pretty hard when I looked at it the first time. Not sure what I was thinking... I saw that listing on eBay right after I posted my message. Again, crack pipe.
They were sold in Japan, and as far as I know they were marketed as media machines (I think MMP = Multi Media Player), but they were just re-colored, re-branded systems that came with a movie card and a higher price. Victor (JVC) also put out a Saturn (the V-Saturn RG-JX1 and V-Saturn RG-JX2), and they were damn sexy. The Victor systems didn't come with movie cards though. Agian, these systems were Japan only.
It must have been the Hi-Saturn Navi. As far as I know, there is no LCD screen for the regular Hi-Saturn.
There isn't. Its just the navi saturn that has the screen option..and damn sex it is too. Now if only I had the proper car for it
Yep, I own a nice Hitachi Hi-Saturn with VCD card and karaoke unit (1st model) and a sexy V-Saturn too !! Oh and let's not forget the good old Sega Saturn with Victor Video Card that also plays photo CDs. Yakumo
The Sega Saturns were sold in video game shops, the Victor V-Saturn and Hitachi Hi-Saturns were sold in more upscale department stores. The HiSaturns did have a higher price tag and were the only ones to include a video card. I've just always been curious as to why the MMP-11 is such a rarity. Looks like it was released at about the same time as the Victor RG-JX2, but I've owned dozens of JX2s but never an MMP-11.
If it's just what everyone refers to as the Hi-Saturn, then it's not... not really anyway. It's not as common as a door stop, like the gray and white Saturns are, but you'll hardly get mugged carrying one down the street.
