HK PS3 confirm button question

I'm considering buying a Hong Kong PS3 Slim, but what I would like to know is whether or not O is confirm in the XMB the same as in Japan or is it X like in the USA and PAL regions?

I seem to be getting mixed answers, so I'd really appreciate if someone could tell me for sure.

 

HK PS3s are ODD because they're PAL but indeed they use circle to confirm (japanese style)

I was under the impression that HK units are NTSC-J, but Region 3 instead of Region 2. HK games (at least PS2 games) are NTSC-J after all.

 

One of the annoying things about the Japanese PS3s is that some games use X for confrim and O for back, I'm looking at you Japanese version of Grand Theft Auto IV...

 

Ridge Racer 7 is the same. Very confusing if you've never had PAL Sony hardware.

 

Since they decided to auto detect the region of the console and FORCE us to use whichever buttons they want us to, why not just ADD a option for swapping the buttons on the menu ?

OMG I would use circle to confirm on all my games and stop that annoying confusion. :shrug:

 

I gather the buttons are the also the same on a Hong Kong PSP Go? O as confirm, X as cancel.
