I'm still surprised that the homebrew scene hasn't done a custom DC BIOS utility, after the Puyo Puyo game which changed your BIOS display.

t of used that Puyo Puyo file to allow you to add your own pictures to the DC BIOS but that was about all. I'd love my Dreamcast to boot up with a new BIOS.

Thanks for that info, Yakumo. BTW, that BIOS & FLASH will not boot images or .GDI files on Chankast or the nullDC Public Beta 1, for now. ;)

Heh, too bad I didn't see this topic sooner, I searched for a while looking for this file, but I found it on some french site. Also, does anyone know if there are any alternate Devbox BIOS versions. I am documenting Sega Saturn and Dreamcast BIOS as well as Sega CD, so any help would be appreciated.

I thiiiiiink it can be done. You have to unsolder the bios chip and solder on a new one IIRC since the awesome intro is in the bios itself, not the flash memory. If there is a disc that can flash to the actual bios, PLEASE TELL ME:nod:

If TmEE is correct then no you cannot flash it. However sesoldering it is what I believe Dan Potter did when he was working on a BIOS replacement. Didn't look like a lot of fun for those of us heavily experienced in such matters let alone someone who only does through hole soldering.

surface mounted soldering is quick and easy IMO.... heatgun and fine tipped soldering iron + steady hands is all one needs... except for BGA stuff :p
