I'm having trouble getting an HKT-0120 to work, and I'm hoping anyone here could help me. I've had this HKT-0120 working in both emulator & GD-ROM mode with 2 SCSI Terminators for quite a while now, but now it's not being recognized on the computer. Instead of seeing this when I boot the PC: I get this instead: I've opened it up, loosen up & tightened a few cables, and I keep receiving the same screen. Everything appears to be receiving power, but the hard drive is not being recognized on the computer either. I receive the "New installed Hardware Screen" upon system reboot, which is normal, but nothing is being recognized. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Im assuming you probably havent touched the 2 scsi terminators... The only time Ive had that problem is when my terminators have been screwed up. One should be on SCSI-B and the other on GDROM Writer. Then the dial next to SCSI-A is set to 3 and the dial next to SCSI-B is set to 4. If theyre set to the same # youll get a scsi ID conflict. Also if you have another device other than your Katana on the SCSI chain make sure it isnt set to 3 or 4 Mabe the internal scsi hard drive bit the dust? Have you tried plugging that in directly to a scsi card? What kind of SCSI adapter are you using? I had a problem with an older SCSI card once where it stopped detecting a device. It had bios options you could access on bootup and one option was scan for devices, and that fixed the problem for me. Mabe your card has some sort of bios option that does something similar? Hope some of this helps -klarth
I'm using an Adaptec SCSI card (can't remember the model # but it's the one recommended for the Dev Box) and everything is set according to what they should be. I've opened up the unit to see what was wrong, but everything seems to be receiving power. I've touched and checked other things, and I've come to the conclusion that the problem resides on the lower board. That's the board that contains the SCSI-A & GD-Writer connection, as well as both the SCSI dial switches. When the dev box is powered, the PC only recognizes the Katana DA, but not the GD-M. Also, the internal HD connects to that specific board, so perhaps the board is the problem. I've swapped different power connectors on the power supply to see if it wasn't just that one connector, but it gives the same results. I'm not really sure the board is 100% dead because it is still being partially recognized by my PC. I've also tried reinstalling the Katana Development SDK as well as the latest ASPI drivers, but again I only receive the same results. Thanks for the response though.
Everything is working perfectly again. Seems like a few cables were loose. ;-) Thanks for the help klarth!
Okay, I've connected a GD-X unit to the SCSI-B port (which is on this same board that is having problems), and the PC recognized both the CPL KATANA DA and the GD-X unit, but not the CPL GD-M. Anyone ever had this sort of problem before? Here's the board I'm talking about:
It couldn't hurt to look at the board to see if everything is connected correctly ... or maybe take it aprat then place it back, it's surprising how good this works sometimes ... ... Could it have anything to do with the trick you used to switched it from gd-M to gdr mode without it being plugged to a computer ? I wish you luck ! -=FamilyGuy=-
Can it at least play games ? I mean, do the only thing that don't works is the GD-M ? No luck that's sad ...
Yea, but a retail DC doesn't have the switches for different outputs and regions =P. I've had the same problem with the GD-M not showing up, cause mine's hard drive seems to be dead. You could still use the DA though I guess (if you wanted too) and get all sorts of fun debug =P.
