Well, when hooking it up through my PC and 5.24 I get errors reading "drive E". Strange. I can't get into the image on it even though I know there is a valid one there. Just thought I'd give you an update. :)

That's strange, have you tried removing the harddisk and connecting it straight into your PC (I have no idea if it's an IDE or SCSI HD).

I've just recently bought a 6ft SCSI 50 pin to 50 pin cable on eBay, so when that comes in I'll have a look at my harddisk's file format.

I haven't. I did backup one of my GDR's and it worked like a charm though.

Cool product, I wasn't even aware of it until recently. Speaking of 5.24's, I may have some for sale in the very near future. If anyone is interested, drop me a PM....

I've tested many GD-ROMs now and all I keep getting is a FAILED error message. I'm beginning to think the problem is with my GD-ROM drive.

It would seem. :( Bummer. You could always swap out the drive from a 5.24 just to test it. I don't see how it could be anything else but that, but I guess you never know.

Of course I'll try cleaning the laser before anything else.

    Wasn't a Set 4 among those? :crying:

Which option did you choose on the GD-X menu to backup the GD-R?

    Update

Well I've finally managed to fix the GD-ROM drive, but I still don't see anything under the HD.

Has anyone been able to "dump" GD-ROM data onto the harddisk and been able to view the contents?

I haven't been able to get it to mount, but I haven't yanked it and tried to read it directly though. Might need to try a Linux box to read it?

    MAJOR UPDATE!

Today I decided to remove the SCSI harddisk inside of the GD-X Duplicator and tried to connect it directly to the internal SCSI card of my PC. To my success, I was able to view dumped data off of the harddisk!

In approximately 13 minutes, I was able to successfully dump data from a Dreamcast SYSTEM-DISC 2 (nearly 1 GB of data)!

The contents in the HD read:

    FILE0001.DUP - 1.39 MB
    FILE0002.DUP - 1.65 MB
    FILE0003.DUP - 984 MB
    IMAGE - 207 Bytes

Now all I need is an application to open these file types.

The data files that were dumped from the GD-X unit were in the same format as if they were dumped via a serial cable or BroadBand Adapter. EXTRACT.EXE works just fine for extracting the .DUP files.

BTW, the actual track 3 of the System Disc 2 is around 5 MB. The rest was dummy data...

Is there any software out there, or mentioned in the manual of the HKT-05, that correctly extracts game data from the .DUP files dumped with this unit (besides using the EXTRACT.EXE utility)?
