Gin... my God, you are playing with fire! Why not start with something with a lower alcohol content and ensure you don't end up scraping sugar, foam, glass & liquid off every surface in your basement? 37-40% Vol. For a first attempt? Mind you, do people actually get these levels of volume when they do it themselves or typically lower?
Okay, I went to a party aged 9 years old at the top of our street. One of the bowls of punch was rocket fuel and I ended up getting so drunk I asked my own mother for a dance! Oh the shame! OH:
What do you consider hard liquor? We have brewed all sorts of strong spirirts within the 50-60% vol range, can easily make some spirits at 80%+ no problem. Oh and who was it on page 1 that has been breweing elderflower? wana send me a taster when its ready lol? :110:
Me think the lady doth protest too much. Assembler, I do not recommend distilling your own spirits, but as Jamtek suggested you can make some nice things using a neutral grain spirit. Or you can soak fruits in other spirits, depending on your taste. Cherry and brandy, for instance. You can also make really nice wines with various fruits and vegetables. You can also make some very nice beers too of course, and it is quite easy to do. Just remember to keep everything as clean as possible.
Making your own alcohol is quite risky. If you are making Gin then you don't need to make the alcohol as you just need pure grain spirit which can be bought in most states or at a push vodka. The cold compounding method just involves getting a load of Gin ingredents (all Gin contains Juniper berries and Coriander then you can add Angellica root, Cassia, Lemon peel, Orris root, Liquorice root, Bitter almonds, Cinnamon and a whole host of other things), soaking it in the alcohol for a few weeks, filtering it several times and then adding it to more alcohol (and depending on strength mixed with water). I have made Sake which is about 18 to 20% alcohol, it's easy to do but requires a lot of sterilisation to make sure it doesn't get mouldy. I do want to drink some elderflower wine again as it was so nice, not sure if elderflower is grown in Japan, else I would make some.
I think I read about that once, isn't it bread (for the yeast), sugar and water in a bag? Sounds... delicious.
No, I never had it . Anything with sugar. Fruits, bread, yeast. Smells worse than fermenting crap....
so tell me how to make a vodka martini a la flemming art, of coushe shaken not stirred, out of your book?
a vodkatini is made by pouring 1 part vodka, ice , a touch of dry vermouth and put a piece of a lemon as garnish. But if that is not what you are talking about. Then I can always google the real recipe if you prefer.
Well.... Speaking from experience. Jail hooch CAN be made to be tasty, but only if you know someone that can get real sugar (at least at our county here its a problem) or works as a trustee in the kitchen (me at the time.. cmon it was only a few weeks over traffic shit). Its fruit cocktail, peaches, pears, sugar and bread. Keep it warm and hidden, and burp REGULARLY, lest it become a small booze smelling hand grenade. And in 3 weeks, if you're not completely inept, or locked up and willing to drink anything, Strain through a clean sock and you're ready to roll. 2 20oz's of the stuff had me shitfaced. ^_^ I know its rough, but when you REALLY wanna drink... (hides as i think i prolly just made everyone REALLY leary of me ) Edit: oh yea, and it smells like a corpse in your cel when you burp it.
They gave you three weeks in prison for running a red light, or something..? I will never misbehave in Illinois.
Actually, for multiple driving offenses, and unpaid fines, i ended up beeing there almost 2 months. But, 2 months of my unemployed time vs close to 8k in total fines etc... i'll sit lol
